Well it may just be coincidence but we have had more Tornadoes in the U.S. this year than in any time in recorded history.

Recorded history of tornadoes is at most 200 years. 200/5,000,000,000 (age of the earth) =0.00000004 which is a statistically insignificant sample size.

Now how do North American tornadoes "coincide" to a Central American culture that died out some 500 years ago?

I truly hope no one believes there is a planet x coming in 4 days. That's almost as bad as "heavens gate". I think it's entertaining all these wierd ideas people have come up with, very creative.

Heaven's Gate was not some mere news story to me (nor was Jonestown) as I knew one of the guys who committed suicide which is why I come down so hard, on these types of topics.

I am not just some ballbuster trying to break-up the party, but one who is deeply concerned with the possible dangers of irrational or fantasy thinking.

The difference between this and heaven's gate, is this isn't a cult, and I am not telling people to kill themselves. I am encouraging free thought and free will, as I have always done throughout all of my existance, and I would never, ever encourage suicide as a means of 'connecting to the divine' or whatever the hell you want to call it.
Planet X does not symbolize the mothership coming and we have to kill ourselves to meet it behind the moon, it's a large body of mass with the ability to shift the magnetic poles of the planet. Quite logical, scientifically speaking.

If such a thing did indeed exist, would it be irrational or fantasy thinking of me to warn people, to tell them to be prepared for cataclysms? To possibly start thinking about moving to safe places? How is that like heaven's gate? It's not.

It is illogical to stand by and do nothing from my perspective.

maybe planet x isn't what you think it is... maybe the aliens who told you this were actually referring to the opposition of Mars this Aug 27? it'll be the closest approach of Mars in a few thousand years... do you really think a new planet will come flying in from the outer solar system later this year? I think we would have seen it by now...

Here is irrationality at work! The fact that a large planetary body passing near to the earth will have have some effect on it (a point which no one argues!) is in NO WAY indicative that such a large body is coming.

Here we go again! Concern for the safety of others is NOT the issue.

To possibly start thinking about moving to safe places?
You have absolutely no verifiable data indicating that

A. Such a body is approaching.

B. You know where the safe spots are. (Assuming A. is true).

How is that like heaven's gate?
Disregarding the tragic consequence of Heaven's Gate for the moment, it is exactly like Heaven's Gate in that you are setting yourself up as the seer or prophet of "facts" not in evidence. I see no difference between a hidden mothership and a hidden planetoid.

It is illogical to stand by and do nothing from my perspective.
Wrong or illogical action can be worse in many cases than doing nothing.
