I'm so fucking glad you come here. You challenge me to think more than anyone at the Shroomery. You never seem to stop questioning things, which I think is wonderful!
Your questioning of spiritual concepts/theories/ideas has led to me questioning many of my own. I had a lot of dogma floating around because my perspective didnt vary enough. I'd looked at so many things from so many different perspectives.. except one.
The cold, disspassionate logician. It sounds drab, but its really wonderful. I've taken your views to heart, and I have to say its really helped me grow as a person.
So.. thank you for questioning everything, Swami. You inspire me.
PS. Murex asked you what you DID believe was true.. and I was wondering if you could perhaps give us some insight about your take on 'THE TRUTH', as it were.

You are a good critical thinker Swami, a trait to be admired. You make an excellent skeptic.
I think you'd make for a hillarious comedian too. Your always making me laugh

if you could perhaps give us some insight about your take on 'THE TRUTH', as it were
I really wish I had deep insights about the nature of spirituality and the cosmos to share. I am only a student like everyone else here. The only things that I try to teach is emotional control and critical thinking. I am as far from a cold logician as possible. That is only one small, but very useful aspect of my being.
I don't really understand why so many get their feathers ruffled from questioning. God & truth are not fragile relics that need to be housed in bulletproof glass. ANYTHING AUTHENTIC will stand up to close scrutiny. I believe that much of the anger response comes from fear that closely-held belief might turn out to be illusion and then where would one be?
As to the accolades presented here, I am no more flattered than I am hurt when attacked. It does please me though that some of you are not afraid to look closely at things which is all that I ask. I do not ask anyone to adopt my view as some believe, merely to look at an issue from as many ways as possible, not to merely accept another's interpretation.
OK. On to "the truth". That which I hold most high is integrity in thought and deed, humor and caring. I have come closest to Spirit through deep relationships and spending time alone in the wilderness. I find meditation to be most useful, not for contacting the higher realms, but for recognizing your daily thought clutter.
The most powerful spiritual tools that I know of are the practice of gratitude, forgiveness and the letting go of fear.

Good post! We have very much in common, especially in this aspect:
I have come closest to Spirit through deep relationships and spending time alone in the wilderness.
Spending time alone in the wilderness can be awesome!, and I respect you even more that you have experienced this and realized its significance.
..... So
..... Now will you marry me?

Id have to concur. The Swamster has definitely reminded me of a few key points regarding the nature of belief and dogma. I still think he is hooked on his own dogma and refuses to ever suspend his belief, something i think will slow down anyones progress (Cant have his ego getting to big now can we!!)
Cheers Swami.
