We are talking about Gurus here right?
They can earn money, but they are not out to earn money
They are out only to convey Truth & wake people up, possibly not even that!
some Gurus have no intention at all, beings are just drawn to them

If enlightnment, was kind of like a quasi-fundamental truth, would it not be paradoxical for there to be 'a way' (singular) to attain it?

If enlightenment were a sort of array or truths and understandings, then it would be less paradoxical for there to be one way to attain it.

I don't know that teachers or gurus can teach enlightenment. I would expect they could show a student the path that leads to it. But, thats about all.

like it or not it is a Universal Truth

a Guru that teaches you to realize the Self is a true Guru

a 'guru' that teaches you anything else is NOT a Guru
they are a teacher, and a misleading one at that...

A Guru means - the one who removes darkness/ignorance (the one who enlightens)

The only way to remove darkness\ignorance is to know the Self, which is the light & wisdom of Consciousness, teaching anything else other than Self knowledge is just adding more ignorance, enlightenment is to Know ThySelf, not to know how to breathe or stretch or follow a 'spiritual' beleif system
which is all yogananda or his compadres taught...

I learned more about life from a crackhead that lived in a leaning shack under an overpass than all of the southern preachers I ever came in contact with.  True Story.

I was chilling with him at his house the night before my SAT's, and we were chatting about college.

he said "Alright... You gonna go to college... That's good mayng, thats good. You'll have an elevated status. The farther you get away from folks like me, in poverty, the better the world will treat ya. But remember, to treat ya self once in a while too. Whether it be to some good ol' weed or a bure, or even a hit o' crack ever once in a while."


When I talked to him about being in the pen, and asked him if he worried about getting beat up or killed. He said

"Nah man, if you true to yo self, and you treat people like human beings, they see you for who you are. Plus, you guy the biggest nigger in their some coffee a couple of times a month from the commesary, then he gonna have yo back. But you need ya momma or  ya auntie to send you some money for the commesary, or you can use your skills somehow. Shit, I was drawin nekkid bitches on napkins for nurgas up in there to trade for coffee and shit that I needed for the commesary"

He pulled out a shoe box with a stack of napkins with twat shots, and women in provacative poses that he had saved from his stint behind bars....

He never claimed to be a guru. He actually never claimed to be anything.

Of course we can all learn from each other. All of us have some widsom that others lack and vice versa, but I have yet to meet a person that remotely fits the fabled description of an enlightened being.

What I do know is that anyone that just makes up stuff and declares it as factual and self-evident when it is not, is spiritually arrogant and full of themselves and needs a stiff whack from the roshi.
