Should we then pay respects for our iphone that falls in the pool and say a mantra over it's dripping carcass before we dis-assemble it for recycling and the life that its to experience after it's destruction?

Nah, I don't even recycle 'em.

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

If the robot was smart enough it could create our current universe and go a million times beyond that. Really dude, it could happen.

All this talk of robots makes me wonder...

Perhaps it is our destiny to create machines intelligent enough to help us out of these human bodies, and it will be our own mechanized children who save us from our fears of death and transplant our brains into machines.

Let's get the fuck out of here.

Great posts CS!

I hate to blow the whistle, but this is plagiarism of a talk by Terence Mckenna, titled: "Riding Range with Marshall McLuhan".

You never gave acknowledgment to the origin of the ideas, nor claimed that you deliberately inserted a copied and pasted segment in the middle of your post, later to be tied in simply by the word "and"--as though you were merely continuing.

Quote:
I mean, television, for example, it’s a drug, it has a series of measurable physiological parameters that are as intrinsically its signature as the parameters of heroin are its signature. You sit somebody down in front of a TV set, and turn it on, 20 minutes later, come back, sample their blood pressure, their eye movement rate, blood is pooling in their rear end, their breathing takes on a certain quality. The stare reflex sets in, I mean, they are thoroughly zoned on a drug, and when you think about the fact that the average American watches 6 and a half hours of television a day, imagine if a drug had been introduced in 1948, that we all spent 6 and a half hours per day on average watching.

What can I say? I'm a Mckenna fan.
