What if the robot is faster, smarter than the nuclear nuclear scientist:uhoh:

Then perhaps they will one day worship the human mind as their creator and saviour.

That's why the nuclear scientist installed a self-destruct mechanism in the robot!

Does no good if the robot can override manual commands:shrug:

Well if this particular self-destruct mechanism was a separate apparatus attached to the robot's body which operated on a completely different system, then the robot would not be able to override it.

If the robot is smart enough it would be able to overcome any human-designed limitations.

In that case, the nuclear scientist can just destroy it with a rocket launcher or an EMP blast.

It'd be an interesting battle.  Hopefully things don't turn out the way of Skynet or the Matrix.

We could prevent all that shit by not creating robots that are capable of destroying the human race.

With humanity's insatiable curiosity and demand for more technological power I think it's inevitable.

But our insatiable curiosity and demand for more technological power won't necesasrily beget super-intelligent robots bent on destroying the human race; who's to say that this type of robot is ever even going to be invented?

Maybe it's our purpose to breathe life into machines that can become so autonomous, that they no longer need us, and in turn, destroy us completely, so that for eons, this world will be inhabited by concious machines, consequently, who will one day realize, flesh and bone requires less maintenance, in which, they create a race of humans, and teach them to .... did I just divide by zero?

It wouldn't be that these super-intelligent robots would be necessarily malevolent or bent on destroying the human race; instead I'd say that we'd be mostly irrelevant and if they need more space or energy for processing power then we'd be as expendable as the ants we step on to build a new house.

That poses an interesting viewpoint. Would another form of intelligence view the human race as the human race views technology?

Should we then pay respects for our iphone that falls in the pool and say a mantra over it's dripping carcass before we dis-assemble it for recycling and the life that its to experience after it's destruction?
