 Slavery vs. Min. Wage Jobs

I really like the idea that Evolved put forth, and as I drove past a McDonalds today, I thought, how is slavery any different than being stuck in a shit, minimum wage job for LIFE. In my state minimum wage is 5.15 and hour, it seems like after taxes and necessary expenses like rent, you dont have shit left over. Hmmm. Just a thought

well the thing in american is you really can "pull yourself by the straps" ... theres a million stories of people that made themselves from "nothing". the problem though is as americans we have a very poor self image because of the constent consumerism, credit cards, debt, ADs, etc etc ... if you have desire and burn your bridges so that success is the only choice, good things will happen ... but setbacks and failure are the name of the game of success. so be weary of that.
a general was to go against an army that greatly outnumbered his own. he went along anyways, he put his men on ships and landed ... he ordered the ships to be burned. he told his men " the only way to go back home is to win ... there is no other choice" his army slaughtered the opposing army and had the prisoners build them ships. they when home!

Yes, it's their fault that they are from Burma or some other place. They knew once they entered "The Land of the Free" that they would need a education to progress. If they learned english, en-rolled in a night school, got a education and then got a decent job then they wouldn't be in that min wage job.

Funny how no-one applies these "Darwinist" theories to corporate welfare.
Over the last 20 years the number of corporate millionaires has exploded while the poor have gotten poorer. I don't think it's anything to do with "they won't pull themselves up by their bootstraps", I think it's purely about driving down wages and working conditions so the rich can take a bigger slice of the pie.
It's the same kind of ideas they were pushing in the early 1900's before the unions fought back and got some decent wages and working conditions for us.

yeah so the rich do get richer and theres a definate reason why!
the poor are tought how to be poor so they need to learn how not to be ... its all a mind game with yourself! dont make yourself a victim!!
i learned about desire from my mom
my mom came to this country from mexico in the late 60's. she worked her ass off for 6 years and saved every penny she could. her desire was to raise her children fulltime and still have a good income coming in. so she bought a duplex .... 30 years down the line my mom now owns an arpartment complex. my mom has done so much for only going to the 5th grade in her pueblo in mexico. thats desire ... sure she's had fucked up things happen along the way but she made it ... DESIRE. she currently getting a highschool degree and planning on attending community college next fall.
i know first hand what desire can do for you. by giving yourself the personl mantra that i will meet this goal and i will meet this goal by any means (legal of course  ) by this time .... train your subconcious to work for you.

Actually I believe it is a combination of these 2 things.
1: Americans are fucking lazy. But we are programmed to be from birth. Advertising has us chasing the dream but without building any experience to enable us to get the dream.
2: Corporations want it this way. Then when they close the plant and move it to mexico they can blame us lazy workers and our union costs. Then they move the corporate HQ to Bermuda and save on taxes given to them by federal tax codes bought and paid for by these CEO's.
3: As long as we are programmed by TV and advertising and dig our debt grave we will be stuck in this lifestyle. The 5 corporations who own 96% of the world and the other 7.9 billion people to beg for scraps.

are you kidding, slavery vs a job? you can quit ANY job, ANY time. they dont even compare. ANYBODY in this country can make money, people just dont want to go back to school, and will find excuses not to. when it comes down to it there are as many loans you can get for school as there are situations why you couldnt go. if you dont like your job quit, and do what you like, if doing what you like takes more education then get it. its that simple. anyone who is held down by a job and feels like hes a slave because of it is easily tamable, when it all boils down, its just a job, where are your priorities.

Sclorch, haha.....my brother doing basically what you just said. Sad but true. But indeed some people are stuck doing the shit jobs for society. I feel pitty for them, but they could do more unless they a crack addict and alll there money and time goes to crack, then they have no hope.....just let them make my Hamburgers =)
