Agreed. For the purposes of this thread though shouldn't we assume it is in existence?

Icelander said:
So if you take a drug and believe you see a car coming at you at 60mph it's the same as standing in the freeway.

So you know what happens when you die?  How are you so confident that the subjective experiences are different?

I don't know what happens after you die except for the fact that your body decomposes. That's a clue right there.

A clue, but not a proof.

What does a dream actor see when you commit suicide in a dream?

I think ultimately the reality of the situation is that subjective and objective are merely different facets of the same thing (there is no hard line between the observer and the observed).  Trying to chase objective paranormal phenomena is like trying to chase objective hallucinations--it's impossible.  This, however, does not change the fact of their subjective reality (which is all that counts in the end, anyway).

Exactly, yet at the time we're convinced of its reality.

Couldn't the same be true for life in general?  I'm not arguing that it is; only that the matter is not nearly so clear-cut as an adamant stance in favor of an objective reality.

xactly, yet at the time we're convinced of its reality.

Not if you're lucid dreaming. That may be the difference in all this. I'm awake and you are asleep.

What if ego death is to waking life as lucid dreaming is to sleep?

:thumbup:Why not make that "for the purposes of this life"? Im not saying we shouldnt question. But waking up and smelling the bacon; after a certain point there is no point in involving yourself in unanswerable circular arguments. You could be getting on with the ride

I'm going to say for the purposes of life and reality it may as well exist. Just because we cannot prove it doesn't mean it isn't there. Basically it's as real as you're gonna get.

Why is life a "miracle"? Or are you using that word very loosely?
