Ok, here is a question that I'm sure will lead to some discussion.

Which statement applies best to you?

1. I have a brain.
2. I am a brain.

Please explain your decision.

I'd say both apply to me... it depends on which perspective I want to take at any given time. Sometimes I'll use 1. Other times I'll use 2. I try not to limit myself with petty distinctions. I'll use whatever best applies to a particular situation.

Can you please explain why this is a "petty distinction"?

1. If you "have" a brain, who is the " I " that possess it? It implies a soul entering a body, a controller in the machine. What are the origins of this controller? For example, when you say "my foot hurts", who is this " my " that's saying this?

2. If you are the brain, there is no controller and the controlled, you are the brain and the brain is you. It is a system of complete unity.

You obviosly didn't think of the implications of this question and quickly pointed out it's basically pointless. I hope this post can perhaps assist you in your decision, or rather indecision. If you still maintain that both apply to you, I would love to know how.

Are we slaves to our bodys or are our bodies slaves to our "spirit". our body houses our brain but our brain houses our ego. what we call "ourselves" is nothing more than data stored in the brain. the brain is just a storage and retrieval device. I am. I exist in a brain but i also exist in abstractness.

Two minor asides:

When people look at a photograph of their face, they frequently exclaim, "Hey, that's me!" not "Hey, that is a photo of my face."

When shown a photograph of their hand, they might say,"Hey, that is a photo of my hand," but not "Hey that is a photograph of me."

An American pioneer onced asked a barely dressed Indian how he could stand the winter with so much of his body exposed to the elements. hey that is a photograph of my physical aspect of divinity. I am a brain and i have a brain but i do not choose to use it in the way i did. i used to throw most of my data in the trash every couple of days and let the truth fill the rest up again until i realized an even quicker way,to move out of the brain almost completely when i am alone and just be the knowledge itself.

I, my soul. Myself, my emotions. Me, the embodiment of everything that is me.

My brain is conviently there to put together the thoughts that i radomly come up with. It does indeed house the ego. But how i feel, my compassion (I, Myself, Me), will always be there regardless of how smart or dumb i am. Are our bodies slaves to our soul? Most likely. But slave is such a harsh word  :tongue:  Our souls are the care-takers of our body. The bodys keeper.
