Bush not so popular?
    #839186 - 08/23/02 07:20 PM (21 years, 7 months ago)

What's this? Protesting against George W. Shrub and his policies towards his logging policies and...Iraq? By....Americans? oh my! I don't remember any demonstrations this large in CANADA since the G-8 summit....so choke on that.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20020823/ap_wo_en_po/us_bush_protesters_3

Well, this is all my lazy ass could find because I'm too lazy to look anywhere besides fucking Yahoo.
But I've heard that as many as 1500 people involved...not exactly a fringe group huh?
Is the tide of American popular opinion finally turning against George Bush? Comments?

I think he's unamerican ripping the constitution apart also seems he wasn't even really voted in......... That other dude probably really won........ Of course I could be wrong and he could turn out to be a terrific president.......... I've noticed his speeches seem to be poorly written and just repeatedly looping the words evil and terror without really defining anything......

500 people protesting a Republican fundraiser
isn't really "the tide of American popular opinion
finally turning against George Bush."

Georgies Logging bull shit is just that, BULL SHIT...

The US department of Forestry already uses thinning techniques to slow fires in areas around cities and places where people camp. This is acceptable because of restrictions put on the Forest Service saying that they cannot directly proffit from timber cut down in the thinning process..

Bush has gone too far by opening the heart up on our national forests to logging companies and allowing them to proffit from the timber they cut down..
He claims that his love for the forest and the devistation that fire causes to them is the reason he supports this but thats just not true, the timber industry and their campaign contributions are totaly behind this, thinning the forests WONT stop forest fires and if one is burning in an area where nobody lives and verry few people ever visit, then so be it, this is the natural circle of life and it is verry healthy to our plannet.

Bottom line, the Forest Service has been doing a great job with selective thinning and protecting areas that need to be protected. The rule that no proffits be made from cut timber has kept everyone in check for all this time and Georgie opening out national forests to profitering timber companies just further shows that his "Environmental" policy was ALL just smoke up our asses.

He has lied to us on pretty much everything from his Reduced Emissions policies that he reversed, to off shore drilling which he simply moved from one coast to another, his FORCED ACCEPTANCE of nuclear waste dumping on states that dont want it and his MANY many other broken promises.

Big Government (bush administration and congress) just passed a bill FORCING television makers to make all digital HDTV televisions and ONLY those televisions by the year 2007. They are passing laws to make high speed internet acces the standard, they are forceing the entertainment industry to upgrade its self to better standards and giveing all areas a date in which to do it by. Yet they cannot pass ANYTHING telling automobile manufacturers that they need to make their vehicles more fuel efficent...

We can already see the air that lingers above most major cities, with better TVs we will just see it better.. Thats progress I guess...

I can't imagine Bush not being protested in Portland. Take a look at the demographics of the place.

BTW, my best friend was there, and she said it was quite lively, but not particularly huge.

I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000. I was only hoping that he would get 5% of the vote to enable him to get federal funding for campains. I thought Bush and Gore were bad choices. OH! New thought ... new thread ...

People are already selling property on the moon...

I guess their is a loop hole in the laws which make it legel... Micheal Jackson, Ronald Regan, Several other movie stars and wealthy influential people from around the world have bought property and Rand McNaly the map people have surveyed the planet and created maps complete with property lines and everything...

The government says that when it comes time that none of this will hold up in court but at 1 to 100 million being spent on property theirs gona be a real fight from all these ritch people.

By the time we are ready to colonize the moon all the property will have been bought up and governments will have to pay private citizens rent...

The government cla

Just curious, but how did they survey the moon? I can just see astronauts up there with their geodimeters taking shots and pounding in stakes...

Did they just look at it from earth or use a sattelite orbiting the moon? An interesting idea, anyways.

The moon is not that far away...

Their have been VERRY detailed surveys taken through photographs and telescope information..
All can be measured down to VERRY accurate detail without actualy having to land on the moon to do it...

Sorry, but I don't think you can get an accurate enough measurement (< 1-2 cm) from 400 000 km away thru the earths atmosphere with photogrammetry to qualify as VERY accurate
We can't even do that from 800 km away.
Not that I'm arguing OF COURSE

And who has the authority to sell this property anyways?
