Our source - Light or Dark?

As usual, my mind has been contemplating polarities lately. All these opposites seem to be metaphors for the same thing, and I guess one of the most general ways to catagorize it would be Light and Dark. This type of theme underlies many ancient and modern religous myth... The Light is typically considered "good" and the dark "evil". But I wonder why this is.

To me, the light is the "father" force, the positive 'thrusting' energy.
The dark being the "mother" force, the negative, receiving power.
Alot of spiritual people talk about being of light, or that light is love.
Well what about the dark? Is the dark fear? I don't know...
The dark seems to be more important than generally thought of. The dark has the power of cold, which is the power to slow things down, to freeze. You could call this immortality. The dark provides the space needed to birth the light.
How do you know we came from Light?
Sometimes it makes more sense to me that we originally, before taking form in light, came from the Dark. Wouldn't this be our true Source?

I think the fact that Dark is seen as "evil" simply stems from the fact that humans have an ancient, archetypal fear of the dark.

It's only natural.

Interesting.. I always think about polarities when I'm high (like now). I'd say some of both.. we're magically self reflective and aware.. and we serve a purpose (to exist) so we're inherently 'good' by our own basic self belief that we are good as a species.

before taking form in light, came from the Dark

Maybe we come from the dark and traveled to light. Love and Light are magnificent things. They have a magnetic effect. When I see wholesome, unconditional love, i want to be a part of it. If i was in darkness and saw a brilliant light, I would head towards it. This is what I call the "Bug effect".

Maybe we were originally formless, or the darkness. And we came into the light to know ourselves.

And you will come to find that we are all one mind.. Capable of all thats imagined and all conceivable.

I love that song. Whenever I listen to it, it sends chills down my spine. They arent bad...i would describe them as effects of awe. That song really inspires me. He somehow put what was in my mind, into a song. Something i couldnt even express through words.

maybe we are the light in the dark? not coming from light or dark...but we are all a piece of the light. and once we hit the dark, we refracted into millions of peices..."souls"...and the purpose of our whole existence is to return to One Light.

Love and be.

Sink and freeze?
Bloom and die.

Self and power?
Others and harmony.

I choose Light.
