The difference between an R and a D is real. To attract enough campaign support, national candidates have to espouse to the moderate and base viewpoints of their party. While this makes national candidates look like they never have anything interesting to offer, this is just the dumbing down to catch-phrases that is necessary to gain wide spread support in a citizenry that is too cynical and "busy" to spend their resources (time, effort, mouse-clicking) to become informed. That said, one only has to look at the last 7 years, and the last 8 years before that, and the last 12 years before that to see the policies and programs pursued that definitely do differ.
However, symbolic voting is another thing, and you definitely are not making any difference in anything by wasting your time voting R or D or I or write in yourself. I do think that who controls the executive branch makes a difference. Our uninformed citizenry however makes it a crapshoot what will happen in a national election, people who vote because they think they have a patriotic duty or something will randomly make a decision on whether they prefer "change" or "values" or "experience" and then everyone just kind of cancels each other out and the guy with the coolest ads wins.
So I agree we are all deluded into playing the game but not that Rs and Ds are the same.

I do agree with you in regards to your refereance to the two party system. I would also like to sugest that you add Ron Paul to your list of serious anti war canidates.

Oh, there's a difference.  It's just not as much as some would like.  The reason for that?  Elections.  You can't do anything at all if you don't win.

I know this is a 5-year old thread, but I feel inclined to post anyway.

What do you guys think of the OP, considering 5 years have passed since then?

The demotards are the ones pushing for war now more so than the extreme r's. Obumble has kept us in afghanistan just like he promised. No wait, he promised to get us out of there. Iraq turned out to be a good investment of the billions of dollars and thousands of lives we lost.... not! Iraq is now an unstable shithole arguably worse than it was under saddam. Ofumble couldn't even keep out of syria, all he had to do was make some of the usual bullshit speeches and do nothing, he couldn't even do that right. So now we are sending arms to syria to the "rebels" which are al quaida, our sworn enemy. The lunatics are pushing him to send troops, look for more and more escalation. The media is beating the drums for war in iran, it will have to wait its turn but its coming.

So to sum it up, we are sending heavy arms to al quaida, the same ones we are supposed to be against. Naturally they will be overcome by gratitude and never use them against us. HA! Afghanistan is still hot and despite a lot of talk about pulling out, its all talk. Obummer is looking to get into trouble in africa sending troops to various places. Tell me again how demotards are the peace party? Or is obumble a repub in disguise?

Yeah, I guess it's pretty bad, but would you rather have had the Mighty Mormon Power Ranger as president?

Yes

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

You can get the public to vote for anyone you want, just present the other side as worse. Saddam could have been elected if he ran against hitler. The tards would all say "i don't want to waste my vote" just like they do every single time. Romney would not have been my choice but at least he knows how to run something. What does obumble know how to run, besides his mouth? He couldn't run a hot dog stand properly and he is in charge of the country. Ofumblecare is a train wreck in slow motion, even ofumble himself had to delay it so his party would not lose any worse than they are going to in midterms when the public saw how lousy a system it was.

He is sending arms to syria and troops to jordan. So i guess he wants al quaida to run syria since assad is a bad guy. I have a clue for you, they are all bad guys. The un says it thinks the rebels are the ones who used chemical arms. Someone tell obumble.
