Vocal racism should be removed from OTD..

It's time we face the fact that racism isn't cool, and it isn't cool in conversations either. The rest of the world has rejected racism, and we should catch up with them, it's the 21st century.

Therefore, I'm requesting that the "vocal racism" aspect of OTD to be removed from the list of allowable OTD behaviors.

We just plain don't need racism anywhere on the site. Wouldn't you agree?

If basic common human decency and respect is missing from any one part of the site, then it is indeed missing from the entire site as a whole.

A penalty for possession of a drug/plant should not be more damaging than the drug/plant itself.

Sure, you could change all that, but why piss in someone else's cereal? The people who want to be immature and disrespectful have a forum in which to do it (which benefits the rest of the website which doesn't have to tolerate such behavior as a result), and the people who might be offended by what occurs in the forum have a disclaimer that lets them know beforehand of what lies ahead.

Everyone would be satisfied with this if the people who cannot handle the offensive content were to heed the warning in the disclaimer.

I agree with the freedom of speech concept, but racist hatespeech should be the one exception. It just isn't nescessary...

This is afterall a private site and we are guests, and so racist speech should be disallowed just like it would be if you were visiting someone else's house and sitting in their living room.

Well, everyone has made mistakes in their past. What matters is to realize your wrongs and take corrective action!

I will of course be happy to abide by the no racism on the Shroomery rule when it is implimented.

And I apologise to any black people I may have offended in the past. Hopefully this thread will help right those wrongs.

"Should" is a moral judgement and whether or not it is necessary is a judgement as well, and I don't recall anyone designating you as the supreme authority as to what should and should not be, as well as what is and is not necessary.

You haven't even demonstrated how using the term "nigger" constitutes vocal racism, either. Please elaborate on what vocal racism is and your methods of determining this before we can futher discuss banning its usage.

And they have also provided this forum for feedback.

Please don't pretend this has never been a hotly debated issue any time in in the past. I was here when OTD was closed down completely. I believe the incorrect choice was ultimately made, this racism issue always re-surfaces, racism is not a part of freedom, and this policy should be re-visited.
