I get SO turned on by mortality - makes me a little uncomfortable

I don't know why but it happens. If someone is dying gruesomely, I'm going to get turned on big time. I mean in my dream last night these Russian people were hanging themselves (I don't remember why) and I woke up just randy as hell.

That was hard to admit but it's true. Anyone know what I'm talking about or got anything useful to say?

I'd be willing to bet that there's hope for you yet.

You don't want dead bodies, just bodies that are about to die, so you're probably not in with the necrophilia crowd.

Also, in the dream you described people were going to die violently, which implies something about life and taking actions (as opposed to be turned on be people that waste away from starvation or disease). You're probably more turned on by danger or extreme consequences/risks than you are by death. Indeed, there is no greater risk on this mortal coil than death, and by thinking about a hanging, the risk seems to be ultra-high (i.e. there's no way they're getting out of this one!).

Try imagining other risky situations and see if they get you turned on too (this may require the help of some moving pictures), and then compare it to other methods of death such as wasting or disease. That will help you get a better handle on what's really turning you on.

If it is risk, or consequences, or some manifestation of that, then you're not alone by a long shot. Many, many people are turned on by the same thing.

If, on the other hand, it's death...well...I know a database the government might want to put your name in...

The brain works by association.

Somewhere along the line (or maybe genetically) your mind has associated seeing death with arousal.

You need to control these thoughts and if you can - re-associate death with morbid thoughts not arousal.

it could become a problem if you decided to start getting off to death porn then your only increasing this desire. For your own good its best that you don't do this and try to think off death as something not arousing.

When you see these scenes in your mind or on tv or where-ever think of something thats the complete opposite of arousing for you. This should help you to change your minds associations constructively.

Just be careful if you try to re-program yourself in this way. It is easy to fall into the trap of suppressing this association or denying it. Neither of these two approaches (suppression or denial) will break down the association and generally speaking, they only make it stronger. Instead of those, try simply practicing awareness. If you observe some scene of mortality that arouses you - really try to see what is going on. Notice your mind associating that perception with sexual arousal, notice the feelings and emotions that arise, notice your mind growing uncomfortable and averse to its own reaction. Become aware of what happens in your mind and body without judgment, accepting that it's where you are right now, and it is neither good nor bad.

Anyways, I could be full of shit, so try the above if you feel like it. If not, then don't. But what have you got to lose?

Everyone has weird thoughts and feelings now and then. You understand what's happening logically - why is there a necessity for anything else? You already reacted the way that was natural for you to react. If you REALLY feel that it's weird and you didn't want to have such feelings anymore, then you already 'programmed' yourself accordingly.
