The Philosopher's stone For Personal Health & Wellbeing
    #5036775 -

I thought perhaps this could be a lifeline for anybody in dire need, hence the cross-post from Mysticism, Religion & the Paranormal.

Anybody laid up with a lot of time on their hands might seriously consider this:

Gold is the symbol of wealth, ease, comfort and freedom.

" There is no surer means of calling down God's blessings upon the family...than the daily recitation of the Rosary."- Pope Pius XII

"Say the Rosary everyday to obtain peace for (our personal) world."- Our Lady of Fatima, 1917.

If recitation of the Rosary brings wealth, freedom, ease & comfort to one's personal world then the Rosary itself could be considered a 'philosopher's stone' and a miracle cure for anyone with patience, dedication and enthusiasm.
--------------------------

I guess this is classified as 'Faith' healing
and could be considered a last resort for those of us commonly atheistic.

While your post shows a considerable Catholic bias and might be taken the wrong way by those like me who have problems with that faith, I agree with the core of your argument, that a strong spiritual practice can be very beneficial for mental health.

Saying the rosary, like any form of meditation regardless of the tradition in which it's practiced temporarily stops the internal monologue and connects us with, depending on your philosophy, the Divine, the Universe or the Buddha Nature in ourselves.

After a successful meditation practice, I can't stop smiling all day.

Apparently Mary is directly responsible for the Rosary.

My position is that if Mary made a promise then she will probably keep it.

I don't think it would be an easy thing to accomplish because of the complexity. BUT for those of us with a sincere wish to believe miracles can happen for themselves or their loved ones, then I see no reason not to take Mary Mother of Jesus on Her Word and give it a try.

I tried to extend a hand and interpret your post in the spirit of this forum, but if you insist on proselytizing then do it in the SR&P forum, not here.

I'm researching miracles;
I'm not proselytizing.

I'm not Catholic, and I find the whole concept of 'worship' kind of 'strange'.

but if something COULD happen, thru a faith, or wanting to believe, then I wouldn't condemn simply because it wasn't part of what I was brought up with.

"The Rosary", says the Roman Breviary, "is a certain form of prayer wherein we say fifteen decades or tens of Hail Marys with an Our Father between each ten, while at each of these fifteen decades we recall successively in pious meditation one of the mysteries of our Redemption."

So that's ten Hail Mary's and one Our Father 15 times;
Ten Hail Mary's and one Our Father for each of 15 pictures of the Mysteries.

**************
The 15 Mysteries:

The first part of the Rosary contains 5 mysteries: the first is the Annunciation of the Archangel Saint Gabriel to Our Lady; the second, the visitation of Our Lady to her cousin Saint Elizabeth; the third, the Nativity of Jesus Christ; the fourth, the presentation of the Child Jesus in the temple and the Purification of Our Lady; and the fifth, the Finding of Jesus in the Temple among the doctors.

The second part of the Rosary is also composed of 5 mysteries which are called the SORROWFUL MYSTERIES because they show us Our Lord weighed down with sadness, covered with wounds, laden with insults, sufferings and torments. The first of these mysteries is Jesus' Prayer and Agony in the Garden of Olives; the second, His Scourging; the third His Crowning with Thorns; the fourth, Jesus carrying His Cross; and the fifth, His Cruxifiction and Death on Mount Calvary.

The third part of the Rosary contains 5 other mysteries which are called the GLORIOUS MYSTERIES because when we say them we meditate on Jesus and Mary in their triumph and glory. The first is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ; the second His Ascension into heaven; the third, the descent of the Holy Ghost upon the Apostles; the fourth, Our Lady's glorious assumption into heaven; and the fifth, her Crowning in heaven.

That's not so difficult; One ought to be able to find these 15 pictures online or in an art book.

Not apparent at all. What would lead you to believe that a meditation device comprised of beads, divided up according to the prayer tradition of the Roman Catholic Church, which has a Latin style crucifix affixed to it has anything whatsoever to do with a 1st century Judean Jewish woman named Miriam? I mean, do you not see the absurdity of this connection? Do you attribute a Catholic visionary's creation to the direction of a spiritual being who was said to be assumed bodily into Heaven (in the 1950 A.D. decision to create this mythos), namely Miriam? It's enough that Mary is usually depicted as a northern fair haired renaissance Italian through the works of Italian artists like Michaelangelo, but Catholic devices have nothing to do with the esteemed Jewess, mother of Y'shua.

But not all of them are jews then are they? I think that the spirit is effervescent and crosses the millenia and if we are to believe the word - the races and cultures also. What they seem to be seeking is the Marian spirit, and in that I think they make no error.

<<What would lead you to believe that a meditation device comprised of beads, divided up according to the prayer tradition of the Roman Catholic Church, which has a Latin style crucifix affixed to it has anything whatsoever to do with a 1st century Judean Jewish woman named Miriam?>>

Because it says "Holy Mary Mother of God" maybe?

well, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains.

of course, the rosary is nothing more than the object of your fatih, and in and of itself is no more special or holy than a dried up dog shite.

its the faith itself that matters... and in fact i think maybe this kind of fetishism might negate the power of faith ...

but that is neither here nor there.

Well, the Greek 'Theotokos' - Mother of G-D is derivative of the Johannine writings which ceases to see Jesus as 'a man annointed by G-D' and turns Him into 'G-D clothed with flesh.' Under this definition - the Logos incarnate - Mary/Miriam becomes the Mother of G-D. Nevertheless, as a historical person, the young 1st century Jewess still had nothing to do with a ritual item which emerged in the medieval Roman Catholic Church. As to a "Marian spirit," I understand the need for femininity in the Godhead, as well as 'Mariology' and 'Mariolotry.' I take a more radical stance in my recognition of the Holy Spirit as a Feminine component to the Trinity. It is a heretical belief, but I identify the Holy Spirit with Wisdom - Sophia - even though the valence in Kabbalism is Divinely Masculine. Some Patristic theologians have come heretically close to this. G-D is the 'Cosmic Mother-Father' or the 'Cosmic Birther' (according to the Aramaic Divine Name 'Abwoon' (as opposed to the paternalistic Hebrew 'Abba'). The need for a feminine component in the Godhead, howsoever removed, was attempted by that 1950 doctrine of Mary having been received bodily into the Godhead (without of course turning the Trinity into a Quaternity, as Jung pointed out).

<<I take a more radical stance in my recognition of the Holy Spirit as a Feminine component to the Trinity.>>
Actually Markos, I don't think you are being that radical in your stance - I thought the Rauch Qadesh was supposed to be feminine in nature also? (maybe I was taught wrong...) and I ain't very radical....
I don't know why you think <<It is a heretical belief>>
and I don't want to write anything in stone, but I think most of the "choirboys" have to admit your position there...
Also <<but I identify the Holy Spirit with Wisdom - Sophia - even though the valence in Kabbalism is Divinely Masculine.>>
Again - maybe I go to dumb yeshiva but really, this is how the good counselor is described, and I don't know who told you but we aren't so sure about that <<even though the valence in Kabbalism is Divinely Masculine.>> either...

One of the reasons I went to the Sons was the Franciscan obsession with the "vita marthae and the vita mariae" i.e. housekeeping and bible study - a fine life! But I was just too busy -
But the Romans in particualr are the great "gender benders" of modern religion so I can't see them confessing much masculinity anything really....
(Was that too much?? Sorry to any Romans that didn't know about that...check the rules for the orders...)

You were in a monastery? (I bought a Museum replica Franciscan robe to play monk on Halloween, Tarot Hermit and perhaps ritual magick again some day when I regress  )

The masculine-feminine dichotomy depends on the model which is why I mentioned Kabbalism. The Ruach is the 'soul' there which is composed of the sephira 4,5,6,7,8, and 9. The 'Holy Spirit' is gonna be above the 'Abyss' - the Greater Countenance comprised of the Crown and Supernal Father and Mother, so there is duality in unity (like the Name Elohim suggests I suppose). I have statues of Mercury and Thoth, but a winged feminine Sophia on my votive table. There are also figures of Mary the Magdalene and Mary the Mother (both seem to be gazing down upon a figure of a Mushroom. My votive table is like a Jungian sand-tray for the enactment of inner dramas of my psyche).

I don't know exactly what you're alluding to, but my own experience with Catholic monastics, priests and seminarians (as their psychotherapist working for the local archdiocese) is a complexity of sexual problems and Mother Complexes that are projected upon the virgin and the Church in various and sundry ways.

<<You were in a monastery?>> ...am in a monastery...just moved to another order where I could have more practical autonomy..

<<The 'Holy Spirit' is gonna be above the 'Abyss'>>

I thought the Holy Spirit is at liberty to move anywhere according to the will of God - that's it's purpose? It's main "highway" as far as we are concerned is between Kether and Malkut, or another way of saying "God to Earth through the Beautiful Gate (Tiphareth, i.e. Christ)
But it in and of itself is free even beyond the "ring of pass not" - though we can't do that...yet...:)

sounds similar to the whole 'hare krishna' movement and their claims about what it can do for ones life. i practiced that for about a month, chanting every morning whilst i rode my bike to work. and i dont know if it was the chanting, the meditation, the drug use or the newly aqcuired self confidence, but something at that point in my life really just made me extatic, every waking moment, it was such a high

I didn't have much luck reciting the original but I'm up to 300+ on the reformulated version:

Hail Mary Mother of God
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the hour of our death
Amen.

Maybe Mother Mary will give me one of these girls for christmass:
