MOTH said: It sounds crazy, but I don't have a very good connection with the feminine side of the universe. I've always known I'm a little distant from the feminine aspect of things...but I attributed that to growing up in a house of five guys and always being taught that women caused the fall of humanity. Plus, God is male, which automatically makes men superior(so I thought for a long time). Then, as I grew older, I began to kinda hate being a girl myself. You might say I grew very tomboyish and tried to avoid female stereotypes. Then I witnessed all the females around me behaving in ways that I thought were really..."weak..."
I became really keen on shows that emphasized female power, like Xena: Warrior Princess. But I hated Xena even as I religiously watched the show. I was envious of her strength, which was superior to even the God's strength (she defeated the freaking god of war). Her companion, Gabrielle, I hated for being weak. She was always needing to be protected and coddled.
There is one female archetype I OVER-identify with. It's the female who is always trying to escape oppression, to be free. It's so solidly ingrained into my head that I have this fantasy playing out over and over in my mind...all my dreams are about the struggle to "escape," to run, to survive. There is always some disaster, always some fight, always some chase that "I" have to persevere, and it's always the same fierce, relentless female archetype that engages the drama.
If a female character doesn't match that image in my head, I just lose interest.
THIS IS A PROBLEM!! And it upsets me since I want to be a well-rounded writer. I need to connect to the feminine side of the universe without shading it over in a protective, masculine haze.
Well, I'm not sure if I made any sense or of what I'm asking really, but the concise version of this post is:
I feel disconnected from the feminine side of the universe. How do I learn to see the beauty (beyond just an aesthetic appreciation) in the feminine side of things? (the "she" and the "her" of life?)
How do I learn to love it? And not be mildly repelled by it?
A lot of it is complete bullshit like Xena or Ronda Rousey, athlete of the year, gets ktfo + cries on national tv + needs her bfs babies LOL
The disconnect could be personal. It could be a lack of masculinity you are unfamiliar with which is more of what I am sensing. Now a days, there is this push for gender neutrality even if you acknowledge from the perspective of ego that is all convention regardless. The problem I see in society is that, there is so much gender neutrality and it kills relationships.
The push for women in the workforce, women chasing careers, running up massive student loans when her deepest desire for a lot of women is having kids but, squandering her best years riding pole of players who will not give her those things she desire is ridiculous.
I think you should look at reading the works of David Dedia. You can download the book, Way of the Superior Man. Forget the title or the patriarchy and any sort of feminist jargon. The emphasis pushes the masculine and feminine relationship. You mention not knowing or connecting with the feminine but if I were to guess, I sense it is a lack of masculine presence. I am not even speaking from the sense of bravado or posturing. That book will changer your life and you rip a pdf free just search online. I read it a few times a year. Find purpose in your life. This is your place of origin. relationships come and go. You are grounded with purpose and meaning, lets say your writing. If you want to connect with the feminine, connect first with your masculine. Even a feminine woman can do the same. What we are seeing more in society is feminine woman acting masculine and mental health following when years of carousel 2.0 coming to a crashing end and prime baby making years have been squandered forever.
David Deida will change your life. Keep it simple. You want to connect with the feminine? Connect with the masculine first. It is polarizing to the feminine. If two people are masculine, it will depolarize the relationship as will two feminine people. In gender neutral relationships, the masculine acting in a feminine manner is a swift way to push a feminine woman into the arms of another man. This doesn't excuse the behavior but the group dynamics is important.
Connect with your masculine side. Decisiveness is a attractive manner. It is polarizing. Asking a woman out versus telling her when you are picking her up. Having a purpose that takes precedence overall things in your life is again polarizing. The sky could fall tomorrow and I will be following my path in life giving my gifts along the journey. Playing it safe, being beta, walking on egg shells, and being adverse to competition is far from masculine. Ironically enough, a variety of men operate this way based upon social conditioning, a society that demonizes men and preaches misandry, and everyone loses in this predicament.
If you fail to live at your edge on your hero's journey, you sell yourself and your woman short. The feminine will not trust nor confide in you. How can she? You are not a just and up right man.
