While not outside the extreme realm of probability, I doubt that many people have the ability to do this. In any case they would not need your picture or any of your personal possesions. The idea that a casual aquaintance has done this is rather paranoid. A shaman would perform a ceremony where the influence is removed and sent back to the originator. This is a straight forward procedure that any shaman would be familiar with.

It is much more likely that you are experiencing paranoid delusions. It is advisable to exhaust the more plausible possibilities before jumping to conclusions involving the supernatural. I would start with seeing a psychologist or a represenative of your religion.

This sounds like stress my friend. It fits that talking about it would help. It's fear you are feeling IMO. It's ok, we all feel fear at times. I don't think anyone is after you. I think you are feeling the pressure of living in these modern times. I hope you can find a way to relax a little. Maybe something as simple as a quiet walk in a park or woods and a little deep breathing until you feel that you're back to even again. You can do it. :thumbup: :heart:

For what you can not learn from you do not wish to erase. You must face them head on and defeat them, build a barrier to this, learn how it's not that easy. I have spent many hours in certain psychological pain due to such a situation. Face your fears, because they are playing off of them.

I think your answer is very sensible, but unfortunately people seem to want some sort of sci-fi/supernatural/fate/other people origin for their problems. This allows them to avoid taking responsibility for their mental state.

I have to agree with Hue on this. There are few people in any tradition who not only CAN do damage at a distance, but fewer who would want to because there is always a karmic price to pay.

In Haiti for example (I have long worked with Haitians in Miami) Protestants are not attacked magically by Bocors (evil magicians) because they recognize a certain efficacy of Protestant Christianity relative to the diluted syncretistic Vodun-accepting ways of Haitian Catholicism. A curse will boomerang from a Protestant Christian, while a Catholic is fair game. So they say. Being stronger in one's faith relative to the ambient evil that passes for faith is the secret. Psychic attack is trumped by spiritual purity. Do what you must to purify your Heart.

Markos, it is to my understanding that you are a licensed mental health professional. To what extent do your spiritual beliefs influence your professional counseling? For example, if a client showed up with claims of psychic attack, do you advise from a largely atheist standpoint?

I am not an atheist. Why would I attempt to take an atheist's frame of reference? Very few people I meet are atheists, and of those who claim to be, one often finds an as-of-yet unarticulated, unconsciously submerged 'sense' of the 'Cosmic.' Now, if you mean non-theistic, I can assume that cosmic perspective, but atheist usually means crass materialist - a position which is metaphysical short-sightedness.

I begin any investigation of experienced phenomena with the obvious and most simple sensory domain. I then proceed to the psychological, and only then to the parapsychological (Psi or psychic domain). Beyond that lies the spiritual and insofar as I used to be a professional affiliate in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and since my experience admits of some familiarity in other religions, I can go there in therapy.
