Aztecs and the shroom

I have been studying the Aztec culture a bit. They're use of shrooms was deeply integrated into thier whole culture and society. It was pretty much wha they based everything on. It has been suggesed here in these posts and also by the McKenna brothers that psychelics and namely mushrooms allow people to be on variouse planes or vibrational planes. The Mexica (Aztecs) (pronounce as Me-she-kaa) had some pretty bizare stuff they were into at least by the common standards of what we find kosher to do today. Would it not be that if it were true that we are experiencing the same vibrational plane as dictated a whole culture that we would not develop the same culture or at least aspects of that culture? Wouldn't the vibration kinda rub off on us? Thoughts appreciated.

The Aztecs alledgely used Salvia, Morning Glories and mushrooms.

Peyote grows only in the desert, not the jungles.

I heard the Aztecs considered the mushroom the flesh of god. I tend to use mushrooms for a spiritual purpose also but not every time...

They did call shrooms the flesh of the gods. They're whole culture depended on it. Thier priests all ate MAINLY shrooms and very often. They would then do astrology and conduct the many rituals that they used. They would also give the shrooms to the sacrificial victims. Can you imagine tripping balls and having someone cut your heart out with an obsidian knife? They did this many times a day. There is much more to this tale. You should check it out.

ummm, actually most of the sacrificial vctims were given a datura potion...
wasson suggested that hte "basketball" players were doing shooms during their games, and that the WINNING team was ritually killed with great honors... (quite an incentve to play your best, no?)

the reason the winning team was killed and not the losing team, is that for the aztecs being sacrificed to the gods was a great honor... and not only that, it was also believed that the ones sacrificed to the gods were automatically cleansed from all sins, and were to become one with god immediately after their death...

according to the authorof the book "Conquest- Montezuma, Cortez and the fall of old mexico" they were given mushies before they were sacrificed. He also says that the reward for being sacrificed was to go to a place where you sang war songs for 4 years then were reincarnated as a hummingbird. So, what of the vibrational plane stuff I first asked about? Any ideas?

Regarding the use of peyote, I believe that they did use those as well. Mexico City is not in a jungle and they traded over long distances. They could pretty much get whatever they wanted which was primarily pretty feathers and jade.

I don't know any links. I would suggest reading that book although it's huge. It's an increadable story especially when one considers that Montezuma was a priest before he was emporer. The dude ate shitloads of shrooms. In fact it was while on his journey that he realized that they were fucked and that Cortez was going to eat their lunch.
