Found this interesting little musing on the web. Not sure how accurate the statistics are, but I think the point is still well-made.

THINK ABOUT THIS:

a. The number of gun owners in the US is 80,000,000 (yes, eighty- million!).

b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.

c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188.

Statistically, doctors are about 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS A DOCTOR.

Alert your friends to this threat. We must ban doctors before this
gets out of hand.

As a public health measure I have withheld the statistics on lawyers
for fear that the shock could cause people to seek medical attention.

machine guns are legal... all you need is to send the ATF $150 and your fingerprints, and you can get a license for machine guns...

up at my range on the weekends, there are usually 10-15 people shooting full auto :laugh:

It's 200$ for a Title II weapons permit. Mine should be approved here soon for the silenced pistol. I have no idea why anyone would want to own full auto, most people can't shoot for shit anyway, why waste the ammo?

Maybe that is the reason why, and besides they look like they would be a lot of fun to shoot.
