Thank goodness the U.K. banned private guns.

Great links. Shame you didnt check before posting.

Snipers in Washington, Drive bys in LA, Schoolkids shooting teachers and classmates. A far higher murder rate (per capita) than we have in the UK. Armed police everywhere - Now I see the light, gimme a gun Ma, im gonna save society!

Get your head around this - We in the UK dont want your gun laws. We've seen the effects I dont mind what your gun law's are, why do you care about ours?

The big flaw in this argument is that even before the "ban" only about a tiny, tiny minority of people had handguns anyway. It affected about 140,00 people out of 60 million. The chances of a criminal finding someone with a gun was about as likely as winning the lottery.

So the idea that "banning handguns" had any effect on crime whatsoever is complete bollocks - typical luvdem in fact.

Check what? The individual that was directed to knows who he is.

I'm well aware of the crimes you speak of. I'm also well aware of the rising gun crime rate both in the UK and Austrailia.

The point is banning of gun ownership by private citizens does nothing to help and indeed hurts the average person.

I've even seen a post of yours that speaks to how you think it's best for private citizens to not have guns.

I'm all for keeping big guns, like sniper rifles in the hands of private citizens. How else could a noble-minded citizen take out a certain evil president from 2.5 miles away? Regan almost bought it(too bad he didn't, but the way he's going out now is all too delicious for me..) due to the lack of gun laws, and hopefully other evil people will see true justice as well.l I'd be all for a beltway sniper that took out Enron executives...pity it never works out that way...

er..is that the best you can do?

Explain to us how taking guns away from a tiny, tiny minority of the population has had such an explosive effect on crime. Before the ban you were millions of times more likely to win the lottery than find anyone in Britain with a gun. You are certain however that criminals were all sitting terrified in their houses because of this? If that isn't complete and utter bollocks I don't know what is.

Explain please. I'd like to hear this...

Well thats certainly not my opinion. In the UK the majority of people are happy with the current gun laws and many would like to see them tightened further - end of story.

You love guns so you think we should arm the whole world. My beliefs are the world would be a better place without guns and if we are to evolve and survive we need to find ways of settling disputes without resorting to blowing peoples brains out.

What makes me laugh is its ok for the whole of the U.S to be armed , for the govt. to actively pursue nuclear proliferation, to have the most advanced biological weapons on the planet and the biggest military and then to get on husseins case about unfounded allegations of wmd.

Paranoid freaks, evolutionary backwater OR the plague that will destroy this little experiment in evolution on this planet

Hopefully the former

Yeah but lots of people are happy with the drug laws too but that don't make it right and it don't make it reasonable.

Actually the majority of people in the UK are for the relaxing of the drug laws in realation to class B and C drugs. numerous polls have borne this out.

That doesn't say anything buzz. You said the people were happy with the gun laws. I was pointing out that the people being happy with something is no indication of it being right or wrong or even a good thing or a bad thing. Not even if its the majority.
The majority wanted sacratese to be executed and history shows that wasn't such a bright idea.

Well I agree that the majority is not always right but surely the whole democratic system hinges on doing the will of the people? Im not too sure how many opinion poll were conducted to guage public feeling towards the execution of Socrates either!
