Okay, let's for the sake of argument strike those from my list -- although now it's apparently not enough for a government to have no "anti-Muslim" policies of its own, it must also avoid any dealings with the US.

That still leaves over two dozen other countries which attacked by the jihadis in the last four years. Who knows how many others were attacked before then.

This list reveals the "y'all were attacked for what you did" argument for the apologist statement it really is.

I'll be the first one to admit that there is a world-wide phenomenon of extremist Islamic actions in many areas. Islamic nutcases are running around killing innocent people for a variety of reasons. How did such a sick and militant ideology afflict so many people from so many areas in this world? Who knows.

You seem to be saying that their basic belief system is what is making them do these things. Libbies say that they are only responding to aggression that has been directed toward them. I believe that the answer is somewhere in between.

For example, the Islamists probably would have hated the Russians/Soviets because they were "Godless", but who can deny that the Russians involvement in Afghanistan and Chechnya brought some serious retribution?

While the Islamists may have hated the U.S. and struck out at the U.S. no matter what, who can deny that the worldwide anti-U.S. movement has gained recruits, money, and strength because of the following:

1. The U.S. gives money, weapons, and support to Arab regimes that are dictatorial and unpopular with their own people. The U.S. does this because of strategic or resource reasons.

2. The U.S. is very closely allied with Israel and has long sided with the Jewish nation in most matters. This pisses Arabs and Muslims off.

3. The U.S. has a long history of meddling in the Middle East (propping up the Iranian shah, giving weapons to whoever serves our interests, etc..).

So you're not calling Steyn a moron because he made the statement you quoted

Yes I am.

Why Bali?

Australian/western tourist area?

I'd really like to know just what countries such as

Where did you get this list?

The Netherlands? Is this referring to the attack on the film director by that deranged loner? That wasn't an al-qaeda operation. That didn't have anything to do with Iraq - the muslim was upset over anti-muslim films he was making.

Scotland? I've never heard of an al-qaeda attack on scotland.

France? Which attack are you referring to?

So you're saying the connection between Bali and Iraq is that Autralia has troops in Iraq and Australians visit Bali as tourists. Therefore, what the government of Indonesia is doing that pisses off jihadis is allowing citizens of countries with troops in Iraq to enter Indonesia.

So in order to protect their citizens from the jihadis, governments of countries with no troops in Iraq should bar the admittance of visitors from countries with troops in Iraq. Once they do that, the jihadis will be appeased. Sounds like a simple solution.

We need to continue to hunt down all Islamic terrorists all over the world and kill them all until they are all dead and their genes are weeded out of society or else they will continue to threaten the human race.

I'm wishing I hadn't now. The "jihad" attack it lists in the Netherlands is the one on the dutch filmaker which was nothing to do with any "jihad". The attack it lists in scotland is just some people who happen to be pakistani attacking someone else. It's a pretty fucking pathetic site.

I think it's more to do with killing australians than attacking the government of Indonesia. That's why they're targeting tourist areas.

Once they do that, the jihadis will be appeased

No, if you believe that then you are completly misunderstanding the situation. These attacks have little if anything to do with the government of Indonesia, they're about Iraq. That's the whole point. If the australians are complicit in the slaughter of muslim civilians in Iraq then australian civilians become targets.

Perfectly reasonable!

I am looking foward to our government working with them. Their terrorist acts have proven to be a valid political tool, and as such demand respect and a swift response to their demands.

It just doesn't get any easier.

About as reasonable as the invasion of Iraq anyway.

The Iraq war was as reasonable as this?

The terrorist don't realize how many allies they truly have.

Italian anti-terror law enacted

The lower house of the Italian parliament has approved new measures to combat the threat of terrorist attack, which means they have become law.

The bill includes surveillance of the internet and phone networks and making it easier to detain suspects.

Those who hide their features from the public - including through wearing the Islamic burqa - also face punishment.

A number of Western countries have introduced extra measures after the London bombs this month.

The BBC?s Jacky Rowland notes that explicit threats against Italy have appeared on a number of extremist websites.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has rejected the theory that Italy is being targeted due to its presence in Iraq, where it has 3,000 troops.

The government has indicated that it plans to start withdrawing those troops next year.

?Very satisfied?

Italy?s upper house backed the bill on Friday.

The package of extra measures approved overwhelmingly by parliament includes:

* doubling to 24 hours the time suspects can be kept in custody without charge

* interrogating suspects without lawyers present

* strengthening of measures to prevent terrorists from financing their operations

* increasing penalties for carrying false documents

* compiling lists of mobile phone users to help police investigating suspected terrorist crime

Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu after his speech in parliament
The terrorist threat with Islamic origins has a world-wide dimension, it could materialise everywhere and no corner of the planet is immune
Giuseppe Pisanu
Italian Interior Minister

* up to two years in prison and a 2,000 euro (?1,379 or $2,424) fine for anyone who purposely hides their features by covering their faces in public.

Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu said after the vote that he was "very satisfied" with the overwhelming approval of the house.

There are growing fears that Italy could be the next target in Europe.

"The terrorist threat with Islamic origins has a world-wide dimension, it could materialise everywhere and no corner of the planet is immune," Mr Pisanu said.

The minister has said the Italian government has received no specific information of a strike.

However, about 13,000 sites around the country are being guarded against possible terrorist attack, including public buildings, embassies, ports, railway stations and the Vatican.

Care to explain how I'm wrong?

I bet you won't, though. I'm sure you'll just post some random worthless news links about how Islam is evil and should be wiped from the Earth.

Don't worry, we understand you have no rational thoughts of your own.

I'm looking forward to that sub-Iron Maiden cartoon about Islam he usually posts. I'm surprised he hasn't posted it already.
