Shipping a hand gun

So it isillegal to ship an hand gun interstate to an non licensed person. Is shipping to a local FFL holder for them to pick up my only option or can I break the gun down into several shipments legaly?

to be legal it has to be shipped frm an FFL holder to an FFL holder, anything else
would be illegal including driving it to them

FEDERAL LAW ON TRANSPORTATION OF FIREARMS

A provision of federal law serves as a defense to state or local laws which would prohibit the passage of persons with firearms in interstate travel.

Notwithstanding any state or local law, a person shall be entitled to transport a firearm from any place where he may lawfully possess it to any other place where he may lawfully possess such firearm if the firearm is unloaded and in the trunk. In vehicles without a trunk, the unloaded firearm shall be in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. Necessary stops, like gasoline and rest, seem permissible

Only two states are involved if I drive it there and neither of them prohibit it.

So according to my research I can drive it there legaly.

I am realy curios about shipping it in parts though. I don't find anything on that yet.

the frame is the only part that cannot be legaly shipped, as for interstate
transport, odds are you wouldnt get caught but I was pulled over by a state
trooper with one, I was let go but he was more than willing to charge me,
check the laws for the state as well as federal.

iv thought bout shipping a gun like that before, but i wouldnt wanna risk it...it might work though:shrug:

if u ship it in 3 different boxes that is. make it look like u ordered parts for ur gun
