Hopefully, they'll come to their senses one day. I must admit, I didn't know how to install a plastic trash can liner so it wouldn't fall down inside when someone threw away garbage for most of my life.

I actually like the idea of intelligent design. I have never been naive enough to believe everything sprang into being on its own. Unfortunately, "intelligent design" has become a new code phrase that religious conservatives are wielding to weasel their way into realms appropriate to science and that is wrong.

people are stupid
i could imagine individual cases where an intelligent person could believe in creationism or intelligent design
but to have the population look like that... people are just plain dumb

With Creationism they mean the literal belief in the biblical account of creation as it appears in the Book of Genesis. They are more or less the same. Same bullshit...

I'm surprised more people didn't vote for intelligent design. Do creationists think God is dumb or something?

Who cares? How speciation occurs is hardly relevant to the average person. Now if this poll was for graduating biologists then it would be disturbing.

Here you go:
"In another survey Fuerst administered a questionnaire to 2,387 students in ten different science courses at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He concluded that Biology students: ?showed a surprisingly low level of acceptance for the theory of evolution, and by an 80 % to 20 % rate favoured the concept of equal time for competing theories of origins.?"

P. T. Barnum sez...... There's one born every minute.
Sorry to always be the nitpicker, but apparently not.
(Phrase Origins)
Those of P. T. Barnum's acquaintances who mentioned the subject were unanimous in insisting that he never said this. The closest thing to it that can be found in Barnum's writings is: "I said that the people like to be humbugged when, as in my case, there is no humbuggery except that which consists in throwing up sky-rockets and issuing flaming bills and advertisements to attract public attention to shows which all acknowledge are always clean, moral, instructive, elevating, and give back to their patrons in every case several times their money's worth" (the Bridgeport Standard, 2 Oct. 1885).
Captain Alexander Williams, a New York City police inspector at the time, attributed "There's a sucker born every minute, but none of them ever die" to Joseph Bessimer, a notorious confidence trickster of the early 1880s known to the police as "Paper Collar Joe". See _P. T. Barnum: the Legend and the Man_, by A. H. Saxon (Columbia University Press, 1989).
