Mixing religions/philosophies
    #4470006 -

I'm confused by some of the people in this forum. How can you rationalize mixing the concepts and ideas of different religions and philosophies together, and still say that you beleive in any one of them 'most of all'. It seems to me that if you don't follow the teachings of one religion to a T, you've created your own religion/philosphy. How can you say that you're a beleiver of that religion? If you beleive in it, you should use it as the main focus of your ideas about existence. If something disagrees with it, that's absolutely wrong.

Either admit that you have your own philosophy, influenced by different religions and philosophies, or beleive fully in one religion. How can there be a middle road?

"All finite things reveal infinitude."
- Theodore Roethke

Assuming that belief is true (in which I believe it is), how can you NOT be in the middle path at all times?

i agree. following part of a religion is not following the religion; its following part of it. not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

You can avoid the middle path by being set in your beleif of one religion or set of teachings, such as The Bible. It doesn't make sense to acknowledge teachings of buddhism that don't directly relate (agree with) the teachings of The Bible.

This is just semantics. Saying you're a Buddhist but you eat psychedelics. Oh well, woops. So you aren't a stone cold Buddhist. It doesn't matter if you say it either.
