Just saw it for the first time and all I can say is WOW!

The battery hen chicks being sorted off the conveyor belt and having their little beaks burnt.. WTF is that all about???

just found this off google..

"The conditions are so crowded, they often get irritable and fight with and hurt each other. To combat this problem, the chickens beaks are cut off with a hot blade. This is not a painless procedure as they will have you believe, like cutting a toenail. There are nerve endings in their beaks, they bleed profusely and sometimes die if it is cut too close. Some of them die from the shock alone. Instead of considering ways to make their environment more natural, which might lead to less egg production per bird, scientists are now working on ways to genetically engineer a more docile bird."

What a fucked up world we live in.

It was a really good trip movie without the chicken thing. That's the kind of thing that will make me move toward vegetarianism much quicker.

Hey, I'm a carnivore! I'll keep on eating the stuff.

I knew keeping battery hens was very cruel but cutting off their beaks? WTF???

I'm definitely sticking to the free range stuff from now on.

They were comparing battery hens to humans though, which I'm sure your aware of.

I agree though, that particular scene would probably put me on a bad one if I was viewing it tripping.

The chicks' beaks part got to me too. And to think that in Arabic Baraka means 'blessing.'

Baraka also means "breath of life" in numerous other languages apparently.
