Anonymous locks should be removed...

If for some reason a thread is locked, the mod that did it should be forced to post the reasoning behind it. No PM's, just make the last post in the thread an explanation.

It's stupid when a thread gets locked and then nobody knows why.

If a thread gets locked, then it's because it goes against one of the board or forum specific rules.

It's also for the rest of us though. Wouldn't it be more prudent to actually have what we did wrong explained so that we could avoid it in the future perhaps? When a thread just gets locked with no explanation then what's to stop us from doing it again? Even if we've read the rules we're obviously missing something or we wouldn't have made a thread which needs to be deleted or locked....

yes, the mods should post some sort of message on why the thread was locked. a simple "no flaming" or anything else to that effect would be all that is necessary.

i try to leave a reason when i lock a thread just so other people wont make the same mistake. if you find one i dont do that on, let me know and i'll make an amendment.
