Yes, I think it will be an interconnection between many sciences necessary to get closer to that subject. For example biology (with physics, chemistry, anthropology) and informatics (with mathematics, psychology, philosophy) and surely much more :smirk:
But neurology and informatics, perhaps mixed with psychology should get a good start off :smile:
Need some more philosophy and spirituality first :grin:

Hell, I think the same about ninety-eight percent of the people I meet. I think the same of myself. I think the same of the entire shroomery population, even??you're all programs, part of a vast conspiracy engineered by my evil twin, of whom I was seperated from at birth (read: God). The word-grouping "seperated from at birth," incidentally, has been used quite a lot by human programs just like you and me, as has "as has," "just like you and me," and "quite a lot." The common usage and obscene repitition of such word-groupings is part of a far more insidious, non-localized conspiracy known as "social construction," which, incidentally, renders all original thought obsolete and ensures that such conjecture as mentioned in this thread concerning objective, empirical knowledge vs subjective conviction be little more than piss in the pool??we know it's there, but we can't prove it one way or the other so why bother thinking about it?

That being said, I love being a program and I love S&P. Whether or not we programs were made from the bottom up or the top down is "open to debate."

I'm not thinking about free will or thoughts, those do not determine if something is conscious or not.
I can imagine a scenario in wich an entity is fully conscious and aware of self, yet his thoughts play out as predetermined and he has no free will

Well I'm not sure they are conscious of anything. Even if a consciousness is not biological and can live around and in a stone, what would be the purpuse of that?

What I ment was that thoughts in a human brain maybe are automatic, at least to some extend, but we are there all the time to experience them. They are contents of our consciousness, automatic or not.
Same goes for feelings.

On the other hand, as I've noted in another thread, I may be wrong, and consciousness might be only an illusion made by the continuous play of memories thoughts and feelings, and all the time our consciousness is actually motion of information disguising itself into some kind of objective point of view from which these processes take place. Maybe the processes are so continuous and harmonic that
they create false picture of self. Which is really, as some would say, a mindfuck: how can I be an illusion when here I am thinking about that illusion....

I better stop before I get into another mindless loop like the last time
