Well, it is generally a given that guys masturbate. It has only recently been more acceptable for the idea of a girl masturbating to surface in conversation. how ironic, i was maturbating right before i read this post XD For some reason in the western culture it is thought that girls shouldn't maturbate, which is probably caused by the view of it being "unclean". How it is guys can whack their twinkie and be accepted for it is weird. I personally maturbate a lot... probably a bit too much, actually <.< I get off REALLY fucking easy. I think in certain circles it isn't very accepted. However, in my social group it's totally cool. As I've gotten older it has become more accepted in general. Possible it stems from the old mentality that allows males to be hyper sexual and lauded for it, but for a woman to be sexual is inaproriate. However, just in the last decade I've seen a shift towards more acceptance of a woman's sexuality. Also, every guy I know goes nuts over it.

I don't think it's unaccepted by anyone, it just seems women think it's unacceptable to discuss it between ourselves because it is seen by many as unladylike but yeah it's just another stigma held by many socities.
