God - What a lazy couch potatoe he is

I hear an awful lot of discussion about God.  My friends discuss it, you guys discuss it, my family discusses it.  The humans race fights over it all the time.

But I am starting to find God really boring.  I mean he hasn't even done anything since Jesus Christ, thats a couple of thousand years dude!

For such an almighty being he doesn't seem to have any power at all.  I reckon he just sits on his heavenly arse all day eating God crunchies, he must do!

He's man enough to create us but not man enough to take care of his creation, what a cosmic joker eh?


So for an entity that does absolutely nothing, why do we talk about it so much?

I have a creator, my mother, and she is the only being I will praise.

Come on, give up the ghost, God is a stupid idea that gets paid far to much attention.

It depends on how you define God. Are you equal to the God you imagine or do you believe your God created you with pride making God better.. Do you think God created evils, or that we as Gods create evil when we act out things contrary to the anture that God gave us.

What if you're the cosmic magician who created this illusion, then forgot that you created it?
What if you're the lazy God who lets his creation run amuck?

You woke up this morning, you exist, electricity flows, weather changes, stars are born and die, supernovas explode, dust is being formed out of little pieces of your furniture. Your hands get dirty every day. Storms come and go. Rain falls. The food you eat is transforming into kinetic energy as you walk. Gravity, physical laws. It all never stops happening. If you fall from a tree you break a leg. There is your god. In a chaotic world without laws you would sometimes fall up and sometimes fall down from a tree, there would be no pattern.

This is all a part of god. In fact nothing exists that is not a part of god. So unless all motion stops in the universe for a second, god is not still.

From another point of view, you believe in aliens, so this same god
that interacted with people in the old days might be the god that is obducting your brethren now and performing tests.



Both ways god is not lazy

Sorry but I'm an evolutionist. I don't see that anything created our laws other than itself. I see that the laws evolved from the chaos of our universe.

Why call the Universe God when all evidence points to chaos and evolution???


Magnum is right, it depends how you define God.

I talk about the standard concept (creator as in old texts like bible) although it applies for any definition of God. We can say we exist, this is true but this doesn't mean that because we exist something else must exist to create us. That is, of course, a paradox (who created the creator).

God is something ultimate. If you are a materialist, god is the material universe and energy and all its laws.
If you are a darvinist, god is evolution. If you are a chaos matematician, god is chaos.
What is god depends on what your idea of ultimate is.

There can be no evidence against god because god is in every culture a concept of something ultimate. And there is always something ultimate to believe in.

And laws, are just the skin of god. God did not create laws, they are the nature of god. In fact, laws are god itself. And we are the ones walking on the skin of god following all its bumps and holes.

Universe is god because universe is ultimate.
God is that word "something" which is the ultimate cathegory in logic.
God is "is"

God did not make our existence, god is our existence

There are only two things, god and nothingness, and then god is divided into smaller cathegories which leads to little things such as us.

Ultimate can only be a theory, an idea.

The universe may not be ultimate as there may be infinate universes!!!

I agree all humans have concept of God but this concept varies greatly.  I think the idea is a result of (intelligence) having to understand how we ourselves fit in to this world not because God implanted Godly knowledge.  The fact that the concept varies suggests I am correct.

There is evidence against God lol.  He hasn't done anything since he sent that son of a bitch Jesus Christ down onto Earth.  So wheres God now?  Theres good evidence thats he lazy (or doesn't exist).

Is there not the exact same amount of evidence that he does exist aswell? Its just a matter of how you look at it. It seems to me the more you try to focus your thoughts on one side of the parodox the more you become that side. So the point, keep on thinking :laugh:

Universe is just a word...it is a fixed word
"ultimate" on the other hand is a mobile word, and changes with new knowledge. So if there are thousands or millions of universes, then
the ultimate thing is a collection of all those universes.
In fact, them we might not call them universes anymore because universe is everything, so all of these "spaces" would be the universe together.

In any way, every doctrine has its own idea of god, even though perhapse it is not called a "god"

Now the difference between reoligions (and similar philosophies) and other "atheistic" philosophies is that religious gods are sentient and have free will, whereas atheistic gods have no free will.

Every human concept of god, no matter if he is sentient (some sort of a spirit or whatever) or not (the mathematical core of everything)
is flawed, because for one to describe and know god he would have to know everything.

Science and spirituality are both attempts on reaching god, and each step a man makes with his test-tube is a little piece of god discovered.

For now we can only know god is unreachable and ultimate, but we discover what he is along the way.

The big paradox at the end of that journey is that once we discover god for what he really is, we become god itself.

There is a jar (filled with watter) and a fish in it.
the jar-with-fish is god, we are the fish. So whenever fish does something, the jar-with-fish does something too right?
(for example in you move your arm you have moved because the arm is part of you)
But the fish is not doing all the work, only a part of it.
The remaining part of fish-and-jar is the jar (and watter), and
it is doing the other half of the doing:
being the medium of movement and giving back reactions to the movement.

When you zoom out and look at the jar-and-fish, it is doing something because the little pieces of it are interacting.

It's all about cathegories and higher and lower terms

I never understood why people ask "why does god alow evil?"
It is the people doing the evil. If your neighbour kills your child, don't ask god "why?", ask your neighbour, he has free will (or so we think), and he decided to do it.
