A woman's Animus, the masculine personification of the female's Unconscious often appears as a group of men, or an anonymous or faceless male figure (see Emma Jung's 'Anima and Animus'). Sexual and Power dynamics that you attribute to your Animus are 2nd and 3rd chakra motives - the Centauric human - animal from the waist down. Centaurs (or Satyrs for that matter, goat-human) are Earthbound creatures (horses and goats) are sexual-libidinal symbols, whereas a bird-human is an air creature that can take flight, transcend the Earth. You are apparently one-sidedly identifying with the upper-chakra, 'flighty' Anima which is your conscious, feminine attitude. What needs to be done is integration of the symbolic split between your Earthly (male projection) and Heavenly (feminine projection) sides - the Conjunctio - Union of Opposites. The fear is a 1st chakra motive which completes the lower-end motives. Rather than experience the fear of pursuit, the psyche would prefer the bliss of union, which you experience as pleasure of pursuit. True love dispels all fear.

try to get lucid in these dreams, then instead of running or hiding walk up to your shadow and face it fearlessly, beat it up and eat it

I believe that the key is non violent resistance.

You OBSERVE the situation, you see a man running at you with a knife. Your ego likes games and it does fight or flight thingy. The key is to view the situation outside your ego, try to see what motivates the man with the knife and what happens.

Once you realise that there is more to it than him simply wanting to knife you, the man stops chasing you and has a knowing look on his face, try to connect with him and you might find your aspect in him?
