I actually enjoy watching horror movies while tripping. I think it makes the trip a lot more 'trippier' in a sense because the horror hits you a lot harder, but once it's over you realize it's just a movie.

I enjoyed watching Texas Chainsaw while on mush. And I've watched all the Alien movies while on acid :laugh:

one time, while me and 2 friends were sitting in the car in a theater parking lot waiting for blade 2 - that vampire slayer movie to start (not really a horror), we broke up and divided 2 left over shrooms and chewed them up real good and washed down with some coke. i didn't think much of it...i mean...we each only got like two thirds of a shroom each LoL. we start the movie and don't even really expect anything to happen. we just didn't want to throw out the shrooms or anything. half through the movie, the bloody special effects were becoming almost intolerable. i mean, a little blood and guts is ok, but this movie just went overboard with it. we were all getting this disgusted look on our faces everytime somebody would get chopped in half or some shit. i mean..it was just way more gross and gooey and more guts than we would've like to see.

then the theater room starts to get bigger and seem way more spacious. those rooms are pretty big anyway...but damn. bam! movies over. we weren't really tripping, but once i stood up i my legs felt like noodles and i was just kind of whipping them forward with each step. i also felt really light. common effects, but i was enjoying those very small effects more than the whole movie.

anyways, i wouldn't watch a horror movie. they're just barely 'enjoyable' in the first place..
any movie blows my mind in the first place if i'm shrooming. i need something that's easy to understand.

i started to watch "nightmare before christmas" last time i tripped, i just ended up getting pissed of at how much of a shit movie it is!

Just like Event Horizon the Hellraiser I + II movies have got that organic Atropian feel to them. The world of ghosts and wide-awake nightmares.


There are four TV events I distinctly remember, all years ago. The first was on XTC. (100mg MDEA) My tripping buddy of the time caught wind of a comedy movie and got absorbed into it, from a social experience to grinning and laughing at the X-ray tube, it was very frustrating for me that the social Ecstasy trip was blown to shreds by this and it gnawed at my trust.

Second event: After a group mushroom trip (2 grams I believe), still coming down a bit we put the tube on and MTV showed 'Mangez Moi!' by Billy Ze Kick, a French videoclip in toddler-cartoonstyle about hunting and gathering psychedelic mushrooms. The three of us were cast back into the trip again in joy: off with the set!

Third event: three hundred micrograms of LSD. (about as strong as 10 grams of dried mushrooms, had those too) Our guide watched Bob Ross.
I could not distinguish -anything- wnen staring at the screen forever (well 5 min straight) while a fellow tripper afterwards volunteered it was a snowy landscape, but he saw kids making snowmen and ridingf sleds across it while he remembered his childhood.

Fourth event: solotrip. 1 gram of Liberty Caps. I felt uneasy and wanted to watch Star Trek Next Generation. It was nice, interesting, but at the end of it I was deeply immersed in a bad trip because I had neglected the Inner Workings in favor of TV escapism and I swore off watching TV during a trip or its aftermath ever since that day.


Tripping? People have no idea how deep it goes. A horror movie (I love em!) will keep it shallow or introduce elements which activate inner hurt of the past thus giving a bad trip.

The thrill of horrormovies is that it is a simulated traumatic experience. With psychedelics the distinctions may blur.
Suppose you feel bad about yourself, that you have cut yourself in the past. And in a casual mindset you watch Hellraiser. And when all those mutilations put you back in your own little hell under the surface, but you are unaware of whats beneath your consciousness' surface the lead Demon gazes straight at you and growls:

there is a sound at the very heart of the universe and that very essence of the cosmos is the sound of razors through flesh

Well.. basically that sounds kinda like the onset of the Ringu story of the link posted earlier. I totally believe it. If it is fake then it is faked by a psychiatrist because it checks out with the nature of human (self)destructive psychology as i understand it from my studies of Grofian (psychedelic) obsevation and theories of consciousness. (See: LSD Psychotherapy by Stanislav Grof)

TV + Trip = bad idea
Horror Movies + Trip = reckless endangerment

I went and saw the third Paranormal Activity while tripping, laughed my ass off the entire time, it was hysterical. I've been through some pretty crazy shit in reality though so I am pretty good at shrugging movies off. I saw Shutter Island while crazy high, that movie was insane, I still don't understand what happened in the end, was he crazy or not?

The fucking scene in This is the End where Craig walks in, and it's all red and has scary ass music to make you think some demons are gonna walk in scared the fuck out of me while tripping hahaha, when the screen got red and that elevating music started, everything in the room turned dark red, and the music got louder, but when I saw it was Craig that was probably the most relieved I've ever been hahahahaha

I don't think it would be a huge deal given the right trip. Movies take on a different perspective and I always feel very disconnected from the experience. It would probably make me laugh at how cheesy and stupid it is.

Update:

I actually did end up watching a horror type flick, Silent Hill, when it was first released on dvd a few years ago, on a huge dose of shrooms. 

And it was one of the best experiences of my life.  I wasn't scared or traumatized at all.  I simply saw it for what it was:  ART.

I watched the walking dead while tripping several weeks ago and it was actually pretty hilarious. I could not following the plot, scene changes or even camera angle changes to save my life. Every time the camera changed to look at another character or something it seemed like he show was jumping forward or backward in time. You know how they always have that recap of previous episodes at the beginning of the show? I thought I was watching that for the entire hour because time kept jumping back and forth lol.

As soon as the zombies came on screen though I was like :shocked: as I realized how incredibly violent some scenes from that show really are (usually I am quite desensitized to that sort of thing). Overall it was a very intense and enjoyable experience though....... I'd recommend it lol. :cool:

I did this once.
My friend was trying DXM for the first time, and I was also dosing it...

He deeply regrets ever trying DXM after that.
I also had a fucking awful time.. Soo weird.
