just had to mention: in the "Insider" with Pacino and Crowe, towards the end of the movie when Russel Crowe is in his hotel room alone thinking of his family and the background starts to morph into his dream...WOW! that caught me completely by suprise, seeing as how this movie has nothing to do with tripping!
Oh, and FYI, Derron Arinovski (writer and director of Pi and Requiem for a dream) is slated to do his next film on Batman (!!!!) can't wait to see how it turns out? you think bruce wayne will be popping pills throughout the movie? lol!!!
Dazed and confused??? anyone??

I don't really watch movies when I'm getting shrilly cause I don't like to be confined in my apartment.. But when I do I always put Groove in, on mute. I'm surprised no other ravers have mentioned it.. It's a true story about a really underground party that went down back in 1997, in San Francisco. It shows all kinds of situations that happened that night re-enacted. There is a chemist in it, who teaches at the local college, the promoters dealing with cops, someone rolling their first time, a crackhead in the basement.... I could go on and on. I've seen this movie so much I almost know the words. Check it out! Awesome visuals on mute when tripping. Its like a rave in my living room... Oh wait, I don't need the movie for that
Peace Out!

oh, I forgot to mention Waking life, its pretty new so dont know how many people have seen it, i read the back posts and didnt even notice that a couple of people mentioned it, anywho, the animation in the film is fantastic, unlike anything you've ever seen directed by the same guy who did slackers and dazed and confused, oh and there's a movie coming out soon with samuel l. jackson "formula 51" (I think, i was about to type formula 409 but realized i wasnt cleaning my bathroom) about a chemist who creates a new drug. should be great

Two movies I'd HIGHLY recommend to watch while tripping..
Donnie Darko, which is confusing enough completely sober, also an extremely well done indie flick, and
Metropolis, the new anime version. Very colorful, fluid plot, fantastic contrasting soundtrack.
Tommy Boy is a great movie to watch stoned though..

Not gonna rehash all the others that have been listed tho I agree with a lot of them. A couple more to try are Eyes Wide Shut and eXistenZ. Eyes Wide Shut gets really freaky especially at the party in the mansion, with all of the strange masks, imagery, etc. eXistenZ is just plain weird (but cool); basically a game designer creates a massive (and very strange) virtual reality world that you can enter into by inserting this game pod into the back of your neck, and you will be questioning what the hell is going on exactly, even after the movie is over. So anyway check them out!

trippiest movie ever, while sober or not, i would say is Tetsuo:The Iron Man.
look in the Foreign section for a shiny metallic box. And dont miss the crazy mini-movie after the tetsuo credits.

No one has mentioned any Westerns. I nominate Once Upon a Time in the West, Sergio Leone's ultimate Spaghetti Western. Each of the three main characters, Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson and Jason Robards, has his own musical theme. The film has little dialog and alternates between beautiful landscapes and mind-blowing closeups that seem to last forever of each character's face. A religious experience. Also check out The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas would be hard movie to beat for "Trippiest" I haven't seen all the other movies ppl named, especially not on shrooms, but i watched Fear and Loathing on shrooms last week and it tripped me the fuck out. The movie is made to have a different effect on you when your state of mind is altered by certain types of drugs, ex. shrooms. You see different things in the movie, ex. those damn bats on the highway. And you hear things differently also, ex. the way it sounds like johnny depp is talking in your head/ saying exactly what you're thinking. Alice in Wonderland was very good to trip to also!

I watched Sky High a few weeks ago on shrooms. I had no idea what was going on but the special effects and many colors were awesome. Kirt Russel was also hilarious for some reason.

ROUGH? It's brilliant!!
I don't mean any disrespect to people with the following, especially younger peeps just learning what tripping is, but STOP harboring fear with regards to the "power" a trip has. EVERYTHING you experience in a trip is all within your own mind; your own reality. YOU control it...even if at times the drug itself makes you feel otherwise. If you have problems dealing with specific issues in your life in a sober state...you really should refrain from heavy trips when you are in those frames of mind. Death is a natural part of life...I don't see why so many people have such "problems" with it when they trip. In fact there was a study reported over on Erowid that showed LSD doses actually HELPED terminally ill people with adjusting to the acceptance of death as well as not fearing the transition.
If you cannot handle topics or issues sober...don't enter into a trip if those same issues are present in your life at that time. The ONLY damage done to you from a "bad trip" is your own denial of accepting whatever fear or issue it is that you are being forced to face/experience. REMEMBER THAT! <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />
Love & Light,
Boppity
A lot easier said than done my friend.
