movies are only really good for light trips, or for when you are waiting for it to kick in. Personal favourites of mine are The Matrix because it makes you think and Half Baked because its just so damn funny.

Pink Floyd's The Wall is a MUST SEE when tripping. I cannot express this enough...watch this movie tripping.
Also...recently I had the priviledge to watch Fantasia 2000 at an Imax theater while tripping - holy shit! If you haven't been to an Imax theater, I suggest you go to one. The room is egg shaped, and the screen is not flat...it curves with the wall and goes on the ceiling. Its like 3d. Holy shit. Fantasia 2000, I am convinced, was made for people that are tripping.
Also the original Fantasia is great to watch, I like to play Metallica while watching it (Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets go beautifully with the movie)

Baraka!!!It's the ultimate trip movie. I never watch movies while trippin but I seen it a lot on weed. It's about evolution and the man vs. nature relationship. The pictures are stunning and the music (mostly by Dead can Dance) is more than enough to make me trip. It moves perfectly slow. I only have the VHS version and I feel that this movie alone is a good reason for buying DVD. It's filmed with 75mm camera and it takes my breath away.
It's made for trippin and if everything goes bad and the local dealer ripped you off, this movie will take you for a good trip without drugs... This movie would make Nixon scream for legalization!!

Shroomism, what you described is and Omnimax, which is a better version of an IMAX. IMAX's a like really big theater screens, and Omnimax's curve and go on the celing.

Yo Phluck, Shroomism is right. I'm not sure what an omnimax is. Is that the screen for like a planitarium, where you look up at the ceiling? Is that what you mean?I also saw fantasia 2000 at the Imax
In San Jose Ca. The Imax we have here is actually an Imax dome. It's a serious trip. The Imax is much better on a dome. That huge fuckin screen wraps around you and above you.

Imax theaters are the best experience while shroomin'.
There is one here in the Netherlands, called the Omniversum. It's huge!! With a screen totaly surrounding you. The sound is also mind blowing! I watched a movie which took you over the surface of mars!

Nope, the official IMAX is a really huge screen, the OMNIMax is a dome. I've been to OMNIMax's in Vancouver and Toronto, they are huge, and much better than the regular IMAX's. If you're ever in either of those cities, check them out. The one in Toronto is at the Ontario Science Center, and the one in Vancouver is also at a science center but I can't remember the exact name. It's in a big dome that looks like the EPCOT center though.

My first trip was while watching Mystery Men at the theater. I highly reccomend that movie. Besides the fact that it is fucking hilarious, it also has some extremely trippy scenes and the colors are fucking crazy in that movie.

I just thought of one more. Through the Looking Glass. Again, watch it carefully and you will be in for a surprise. I think cartoons in general are really interesting when on shrooms. Don't know about acid though. I like to move around a lot more when I am on acid.Grimace

i can never really keep my focus on one idea or object long enough to understand the plot, let alone watch a whole movie. the best thing to do is go explore what ever surroundings you are in, its much better than a movie!!!

My personal faves:
- Apocalypse Now
- Pink Floyd's The Wall
- Twin Peaks
- Naked Lunch
- practically ANY Stanley Kubrick movie
- Sorcerer (well maybe)
- you get the idea..
Then again half the time I don't pay attention :) I picked these movies because they aren't something you just absorb, you gather all sorts of little ideas and thoughts outside of the dialog and effects. They are just really raw and they demand attention from you.

I used to always watch movies while tripping, but not anymore. I get to wrapped up in the movie and forget to have fun while I trip. Actually getting off my ass and doing something makes for a much better trip experiece -- for me anyway.

about tesuo: iron man...it really depends on which version you see...i watched the first one yes the first one might frea kyou out because its so.......dry and goes nowhere...youre caught in this place and its not getting better. dont even watch the color version..too much information.if you see ANY film on shrooms..do NOT catch the local teeny bopper flick trying to grasp your money..watch 2001..be patient...oh yes it bores, but if you dont take your eyes off of it, the scene inside of hal to the end will literally BLOW YOUR MIND. imho

this one you had me laughing for an hour and a half while I was sober, but you probably wont be able to find it (I found it in one of those 99 cent stores) its called dreaming of paradise, and its a childrens movie. its about these underground people who sit around all day picking shrooms and digging and getting loaded on mushroom wine, I shit you not. they drink the wine and have hallucinations like the rat man splits in two and starts dancing with himself and morphing. its a cartoon and was made in '87. it was made by Just for Kids home video, good luck finding this treasure.

YELLOW SUBMARINE!! there is so much in that movie, it makes you think. those blue meanies bugged me out... also there is this movie called the Point, its a cartoon narrated by Ringo Starr. its about this little boy who gets born into a village where everything has a point on it, even the peoples heads. but he was born with a round head, and when he pisses off the mayor or somebody's kid, he gets banished to the pointless forest where all this trippy shit happens to him and his dog. a black hole, singing fat ladies bouncing around, trees that talk to him.. very cool. also the old sesame street episodes are good, dont watch the new ones though...they are too freakish.

A movie that is definatley good to see on shrooms is one called "Microcosmos". It is ALL about bugs and their ways of getting around. They actually made insect-sized cameras to film them and it's like your a fuckin insect yourself!! It's quite similar to Baraka in the way that its trippier than fuckin fuck!!! Watch it and you'll see what I mean...happy trippin' fellow druggies!!

Dont watch movies when you are tripping. Have you ever been sitting in a room with the whole place morphing and melting, yet the TV still looks normal? Thats what I'm talking about. The best visuals come from realworld 3d objects. Things with texture like grass and carpet and water and people. You will enjoy your trip much more if you go for a walk instead of sitting in front of a TV.

The Shining stands out in my mind as the most intense movie I ever saw on shrooms the music is so damn creepy! I watched The Mask on four hits of acid in the theater WOW! It was the first time I saw Carrey, those faces he makes, GOD! The Wall made me violent and I kinda liked that. I saw Satan watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. In my experience seeing Jesus was a thousand fold times scarier than seeing Satan. Used to always watch those people walking all over chanting "Hail Mary..." on TV and that was real spooky. Yeah, I guess I revel too much in the dark side, don't try this at home.

re BARAKA.yeah, this is quite a good flick, Ive seen it straight, stoned and tripping. BUT it is nothing compared to a film in the same genre called KOYANISQUAATSI.
I saw this on a big screen in our local botanic park and It is so much better than baraka, which in comparison is rather shallow and meaningless.
Also in a similar genre, but with a cool techno soundtrack instead of the ambient stuff is 'Lucky People Centre's' 'international' cheers

Fantastic Planet is a good one... it was a Cannes film festival winner a few years back, it's a cartoon, and there is just so much wierd stuff in it... (Can probably find it in SciFi section)Also, I saw Lost In Space (the newer one) a little while I was tripping out on shrooms, and MAN, you don't have to watch the whole thing (kinda hard to on a level 3/4 anyways), but if you catch just brief glimpses of it, it's awesome. I can't explain what I saw in it...

KOYANISQUAATSI is cool: check out the IMAX feature "Chronos" - it's a similar deal, only longer (and IMAX!)Also, sober or otherwise: Run, Lola, Run. Cool cinematography, action, pounding soundtrack, and it really makes you think. One problem: German subtitles. But the story is so action-based that you almost don't need them ... Tetsuo the Iron Man (first one, B&W) gave me a bad trip while sober. I gotta check out this "Barraka" everyone is talking about. Is that the bizarro 60s sci-fi with Jane Fonda wearing very little? I think I saw the box at the video store ...

hell you don't even have to watch a movie, put the channel on M2if you got it because they play fucked up videos all the time, mute the tube and pop in some sublime. you could be watching the anything and it will still be the coolest thing ever

Well if you're like my friends and can't get scared anymore because of all those horrormovies, try watching Event Horizon alone in the dark while tripping...Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Most cartoons rock, especially The Simpsons because there is so much to it (depth AND bright coloring mon). The Powerpuff Girls looks like it could have potential. Also, those dreamscapes Disney produces so well like Aladdin and Tarzan would no doubt make for a jaw-dropping experience, and definitely movies from The Mind's Eye video series. I saw one of these computer animation types in DVD format on a wide flat screen in The Sharper Image store while sitting down in a thousand dollar leather massage chair. Unforgettable, and I was not even under the influence! I highly recommend them.
