Is the Democrat party dead?
    #3084767 - 09/02/04 09:24 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

First of all, let me say that I am a leftist, very leftist, but I can see the Democrats chances of ever winning a presidential election as the party that they are now, slipping farther and farther away. I don't believe that in the mindset of the country and the funding available to the Republicans that the Democrats have much of a chance, something has to change for the Democrats. The nominated one of the least electable candidates in the primaries and now the campaign they are running seems indifferent to winning or not... atleast that's the impression I get...

This election may very well decide if it is or not.

theyve already blown the POTUS..and i very much doubt that they can even win the senate...and this idea that kerry was more "electable" than dean now seems quite ludicrous...its time to jump on the next bus to mexico and roll up nice big fat dooby and forget about being an american liberal...the bad guys have won their mandate from the american voters..and we have nothing left to bitch about...

Liberals won't just disappear in America just because they lose an election. If anything, a loss this year will galvanize the left and make them even more resolute in their convictions. And if the American people end up realizing their mistake of re-electing Bush, then the country as a whole may swing leftward.

I'm not asking if American Liberalism is dead, just the political party, I'm thinking that liberals need to regroup and form another party, a truly liberal party that stands for truly Liberal ideals and not this "moderate, same as the other party" party that they have now...

You guys have seen the polls, right? Bush and Kerry are dead even. I don't know why people are talking about the downfall of the Democratic Party and all this garbage. This election is going to be fierce.

The fact that he's dead even with the worst president in over a century is telling.

I'd just says that there are a lot of morons voting for Bush.

Yeah the polls show them dead even but winning a poll and winning the election are two different things... It's just in my heart of hearts that I believe that this election is unwinnable for John Kerry and unloseable for Bush, and maybe I'm a pessimist but I also feel that I'm a realist... of course I'm not voting for either Bush or Kerry...
so I guess I'm part of the reason for my thinking...

I fixed your otherwise accurate statement for you.

The thing that worries me is if Bush gets another term, he may be even more reckless than he already has been in his pandying to his corporate donors. He'll have nothing to lose.

Apparently, bush has given tax breaks of $25 billion to his friends in the oil industry. That's fucking crazy.

The Democrats moved to the right under Clinton. Labour moved to the right under Tony Blair. Democrats can be quite successful when they run conservatives. The problem with the Democrats is that they are being led by a Kerry/Kennedy/Pelosi faction, and that turns off fine and decent Americans.

I don't know why you guys don't like George Bush. He certainly spends like a liberal.
