Beautiful hericium mboehm

Pinks are a crowd pleaser, I also think they can get a bit like bacon and also smell a bit like stinky cheese. Contrary to blues I feel like the more mature fruits have a better shelf life than young harvests.

Had this autoclave and cadco in my garage for a while decided to finally test them together. Took 4 hours to pre heat, vent and get to pressure but it held nicely with little adjustment.

My wife hates mushrooms, but she will eat Pink Oysters, they are friggin' delicious!

Oh... what's this... another Block Ready!

Once the pinks are out of the way, I have two King/Blue blocks, two 7.5 pounder Bears head blocks, and 4 or so Branched Oysters to run through. Alright back to work, break is over, it's a BLOCK PARTY weekend folks...2 more shiitakes and a golden chestnut I've been wanting to run.  It won't be warm for much longer, I enjoy late fall/winter growing, let's go... KO... eventually!  :laugh2:

Nice blocks DeadManDave, we are in a bit of a heatwave, but it's already about finished, and I'm ready to switch up to colder species SOON.  I need to resurrect my Black Pearl culture for sure, amazing Oysters.

Growing edible blocks changed my whole outlook on growing, really makes you understand how to grow ANY mushroom... that can be cultivated indoors anyway.

Experimenting with Rhodotus reticeps

First bags in the tent.

Fruits are pretty small, about 2cm. This culture is super aggressive...pins like mad on agar and sub. The next bags in were from the same batch and started fruiting in incubation like sweaty Enoki.

Interestingly the color only develops once introduced to fruiting. Lightens up at maturity.

Beautiful species, and a wood eater too... excellent work, inedible though if I"m not mistaken.  Clearly your environment is on point, wonderful pinset and dry fruits that are well developed.

:bow2:

I use my Vivo 2x4 for Cannabis cultivation, I have at times thought about turning one of my 2x4's into a mushroom producing machine.  I would have to make changes and adjustments, so I decided against, but nice setup.

They are edible actually. Not considered choice though. They get a bit slimy when cooked. Seems largely a texture issue so I'm going to experiment with some different ways of preparing them.

Oh ok, they look phenomenal in pics, so I'm sure they are amazing in person.  Let us know, I'd like to grow them one of these days, weeks, or years.

Some blues I grew this summer.

--------------------
There are times, however, and this is one of them, when even being right feels wrong. What do you say, for instance, about a generation that has been taught that rain is poison and sex is death? If making love might be fatal and if a cool spring breeze on any summer afternoon can turn a crystal blue lake into a puddle of black poison right in front of your eyes, there is not much left except TV and relentless masturbation. It's a strange world. Some people get rich and others eat shit and die. -Hunter S. Thompson
