Beef would send that so hard.  Looks fine its just a bunch of different cultures.  The more you clone and expand the more uniform the growth pattern will become.

For finding grain, I've had success checking FB market place. There are a bunch of farmers near me and all they use is Facebook

Not so much of a question cause I already did it but figured I'd ask.
I went to empty one of my monotubs and saw it had a small patch of trich on the substrate. I was going to spawn a new tub using that one so after I cleaned it really well, I popped it in the oven for about 45 minutes at 200f. I think this should have effectively killed any left over trich or whatever. Does this sound about right? Anyone else do this?

You can reuse a tub that had trich in it previously, just scrubbing it out good with soap and water has always worked for me. I understand wanting to make sure evil is really dead though, kinda like the double tap rule in zombie land:hehehe::mushroom2:

It's different for every brand of coir.

Most people weigh the brick and multiply it by 4.2. For me, that comes out way too dry

I'm with Puff on this. I typically multiply coir in grams x 4.25 but I haven't been able to keep beads to pinning yet. So I'm going to multiply by 4.6 this time.

If you start off with 4.2 and its way too dry, you can get close with the 4.2 and then add water to taste.

I want to ask those who have grown Jack Frost before or if you know how they usually develop: in your experience, do they keep growing upwards once they break the veils and open the caps?

Mine just starting doing it, the biggest/earlier ones, and they look pretty short. Chunky fat steams, but quite short ones.

I am stoked with how things are going but just curious if they will keep pushing upwards while the caps twist and turn blue.

Thanks homies

Chances are it will be dry. If you have an extra brick, make it at 4.2, then add 50ml at a time until you reach field capacity. Add that to how much water you originally put in and  divide by the weight of the brick to figure out the ratio for your brand.

I have to add at least liter if I do 4.2.

Grams of Dry Coir  X  4.2  =  ml/Grams of Water

again like Puff said. This will be dry, but it's a baseline you can start from. and then If its still not at Field Capacity, Add 50ml water. If its still not at Field Capacity, Add 50ml water. If its still not at Field Capacity, Add 50ml water. If its still not at Field Capacity, Add 50ml water. If its still not at Field Capacity, Add 50ml water. If its still not at Field Capacity, Add 50ml water.

if after adding 50ml of water in 6 different intervals like you explained its still not at field capacity? How should I proceed? 🤣

and just a real world addition to this,

I just made the sub linked in my signature. But the actual measurements were

329g dry coco coir
~1.75-2 quarts Cow manure
~1.5 quarts vermiculite
~ 1/4 cup gypsum
~ Roughly 2,313ml tap water

This isn't just coir, BUT i still used the 4.2+ math. I listed 2,313ml water but  329 x 4.2 = 1,381ml. I ended up adding roughly 932ml more than that base math suggested which is 68ml away from Puff's addition liter he stated he adds after using 4.2.
