My lc test plates are never photogenic. It’s harder than you might think  to place a single drop in the center; instead it seems i’ve squirted all over the agar. Stupid mycelium clogging the needle.🤡. I will of course, take transfers to new plates but it seems wasteful to not use the remainder of the syringe.

I cut small squares out on my lc test plates and put the drops in them. It helps stop the liquid from going all over. Plus take the needle off. It's easier to get a drop without the pressure needed to go through the smaller opening of the needle. Then push the plunger while faced away from the plate to break the lock the plunger and syringe get from sitting in transit. Then you are ready to drop on a plate.

Thanks BW! I like that Idea. I don’t make liquid culture often (4 times in 3 years) and when I do I just pour it out of the jar. It’s even harder to pour a single drop. At any rate my transfers from the test plate look clean and I too have growth on grain.

I’m pretty Jazzed for this one👍

I did the “ test” plates on 8-31. The transfers were on 9-7 I squirted lc in grain jars on 9-7 also.

I’ve had good luck buying cultures( oyster) from these guys before so I was 99% sure it was going to be clean. I mean, do your due diligence but yeah,  it’s all good.

seems like they must know what they are doing to create an interspecies hybrid. I can't really speak on the case of mycology, but at least with plants such things require a lot of trial and error as well as proficiency and competence. I put the isolate on agar and am waiting to see what turns up, but the claims of hybrid vigor would lead me to believe that this should be a robust cultivar that benefits from the genetics of both parents

Yeah sorry that came off the wrong way, my bad. Several of the plates I have seem to have bacterial contamination but that's probably because I'm a sloppy dipshit. I think I'm putting too much stuff in my agar. . . Anyways didn't mean to sound like an ass, sorry brah

was going to transfer some threads from the swab assuming it was a more normal qtip type but it's some kind of industrial superswab with very short hairs that won't come out of the thing at all, so i ended up just streaking with the tweezers

not my original plan and i'll do something else later, but hey, we're off to the races.

also I can't spell

I thought the same thing. I swabbed it on the plate them dug it in to another plate and used a flamed scalpel to scrape the agar around on the swab. Once it got some color to it, I spread that on separate plates then jammed the swab into another plate and broke off the stem. All of the plates germinated even just the swabbed ones so I guess the hyper swab tip worked. I think you'll be fine.

Do you guys have agar pics? The Isolate is pretty tomentose, at least on 1.4%  LME.

Me as well, big white blob, slowly expanding, very thick. My place is generally cold ish so that might be having some kind of effect on it. I don't have a lot of experience with exotics but I haven't seen mycelium that "dense" before, almost looks like its 3/8" thick

I was curious what it would look like on 1% or lower. I might have to pour more plates tomorrow.

ISO jars are 100% colonized. I'm making up coir tonight and will spawn it tomorrow. I'll post pics of a jar when I get back home.
I also need to clean and make up more holy Grail plates, thinking I'll do high nutrient and low nutrient plates and see how each go. Possibly a grain prep as well for MS. I guess I have a busy night ahead of me.

I’m a few days behind ya. I actually need the time to round up h-poo for a side by side  comparison. I’m excited to see the diversity of other peoples MS grows.

Y'all going straight coir or making up some pasteurized poopoo mix magic? Sorry, I'm kind of ignorant about what sub would work with this stuff. I've been preoccupied with other things and am just now noccing my jars so its great to see the progress that you all have made. Hopefully I get to where y'all are at without too many issues. I'll share when I've got anything interesting. Great job. Sorry for all the y'all's y'all lmao

I'm doing straight coir based on
PhenoDreamers' info. In further grows I'm going to experiment with cvg, cv, coir+, coir+wc, coir poo, mastermix, all kind of stuff. I just really wanted to see how these were going to be before I went really crazy with so many different things. If I don't like the trip on them, if they don't produce well, or if they are too finicky, I'm not going to grow them anymore. I don't have much time for this hobby so I like easy stuff that I don't waste time with. So far I like it.
48 hours post shake.
