I must confess I have become addicted to cultivation (I have an addiction streak in me anyways) so badly in fact that if a grow is not doing good it actually alters my mood. So, when things are fruiting or when I'm knee deep in planning or preparing a grow, I feel great but as soon as I start to think ''oh no'' this isn't fruiting or I did something wrong I get kind of depressed. Something I need to work on I guess:cuckoo:

Imagine an unexpected psychedelic experience inside one of these Gothic churches, with light streaming through stained glass windows and glints off gold trim. Paintings, sculptures, pipe organs, and the acoustics of the place...

Celestial.

Damn, now I actually feel like going to church.

Hugs

I know giving people a surprise dose of psychedelics is a no-no, but if I could do it only once it would be at a Church social. Preferably a mega-church's Sunday social.

Then the devil cosplayers would arrive.

You spice up the wine. Effectively turning it into the real pagan article.
Then they can actually take part in communion.

1oz0fTheory don't take it so seriously. If something doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. Just observe and try to fix it—it's no big deal. Nobody is going to judge you, you're not in a competition. You can always overdo things and make mistakes on purpose. Push things to the limit and gladly watch them go to shit.

By the way, have you guys seen the movie The Zero Theorem by Terry Gilliam? Damn, I would love to live in that church...

The main thing that separates growers from non-growers is the ability to learn from one’s mistakes.  So many people I talk to about gardening in general are like, “Yeah, I tried growing some XYZ but it died, I guess I just don’t have a green thumb “.  That’s just not how it works.  It takes a lot of time handling plants before your thumb turns green.

I’ve been growing for over a decade, and recently lost 32 seedlings to damping off (due to bad coir).  It bummed me the fuck out, but I identified the problem and won’t make that mistake again.  If we allow our failures to pile up without processing them, they will eventually bury us.  But when properly utilized, they can become the foundations to our success.

Yeah, that’s spot on. Tough to practice, sure, but the challenge is what makes any of these hobbies rewarding

I think cult can get discouraging when the root of the problem remains invisible yet you get stuck dealing with all the emergent failures, but, time and again, experience has taught me that if you remain observant and critical of your process, some way forward will eventually be illuminated.

this happens to me big time, but I think its easing up after a couple years. the whole business has been instructive and therapeutic for me as much for the activity as for the trips. crazy how I'd spiral out if one jar got contaminated. but that just highlighted some psychological issues Im now trying to work on. which in turn is easier if I have some nice fruits to look at meanwhile!

I confess I've been using the church down the street to get free coffee during a recent hard finanical time. At first I intended to get it and bounce, which they were more than willing to do, but the old ladies in the kitchen, whom are all deaf or hard of hearing, convinved me to stay and take part in the sunday service. im glad i did. i was wearing neon green nike flip flops and a green las vegas sin city t shirt, and they still welcomed me in, magnanimous. I ahve now also started going there for na meetings which I have started again. There's one on Tuesday night on beidge street at a sober living house and the one at the church is 6-7 on Monday nights. Thank you.

I confess that I believe I've narrowed down my biggest contamination vector from agar to grain. So obvious it's silly.

I use two part lids and leave the foil on when dropping in the agar. I've been peeling the foil up with my sanitized, gloved fingers for ease of entry. Was an aha moment to say the least.

There's not enough facepalms for this bad practice
:cyriakhomer:

Whelp, on the bright side, my compost pile is of superb quality :mushroom2:

Nah, you get invested just like ya do a plant.  The fungi are my friends and I want my little buddies to succeed.  I grow em because I love em, same w/ my plants.

And it's really fucking disheartening when somethin you poured weeks of time into doesn't pan out.  Emotions gonna emote, it's just part of bein human.

I come from parents and a family of deeply committed Christians, and, even though I don’t share their beliefs, I respect them because they’re open and compassionate like these folks seem to be, and they believe that it’s incumbent on them to improve the lives of the people around them.

Church gets a bad rap, and deservedly so in many cases, but I’m glad you found a place and some people to be good to you for however long you feel it’s serving you to hang out there.

If only more churches had and were led by regular, half-decent folks.  I genuinely do wish there were more, they're a good way to build community for a fair number of people.  In fucked times like these, that's what we need more'n anything.

Correct orientation of foil when dropping agar wedge. Simply lift the jar lid higher before the drop

What I was doing so I didn't have to lift the lid higher. Also how I successfully cultivated large quantities of mold:facepalm::tongue2:

I'm happy for you, Fiddle, seriously.

My girlfriend and I also had times this summer when we had to rely on a soup kitchen. And I'm also really grateful that these places exist. Around here, they're always run by nuns or religious communities in general. Very kind people.

In the end, communities are another kind of force majeure—something deeply rooted in our DNA. And it works.

And that's where I always find the most genuine human warmth.
