sounds misleading...  are you pumping air into those tubs?  do the hericium look like they're getting enough FAE?  I hear they need a lot.

I control the amount of air and humidity being pumped in using half inch tubing connected to a humid fresh air machine I constructed. Lionsmane is easy, don’t need as much attention as other species

Those lion's mane want more FAE (and maybe more humidity). In better conditions they will be a lot denser.

Are you venting outdoors? I wouldn't grow more than a few bags of oysters or LM without venting the spores outside of my house.

They are contained in a monotub, I don’t vent, just intake.  I can feed them more or less air exchange and humidity by changing a few parameters

I mean...you're forcing air into it, which is displacing turbulent and spore laden air inside of it. The spores aren't just contained in the tubs. It's not like a passive monotub grow where most of the spores can fall in still air. Not a risk I'd personally want to take with the volume of spores oysters and LM produce, especially as mature as your pictures are showing.

Spores get trapped in the monotubs.  I see a puddle of spores on the floor of the tub every harvest.

It’s a good setup that work well for me.  Still trying to perfect.  Im growing maitaki lm oyster and Cordceps  in same small tent.  thought the setup was cool.

I don't mean to attack your idea. It's clever and I understand the appeal of being able to tune individual tubs in a space.

But there is a reason people use exhaust (negative pressure) and not intake (positive pressure) for ventilated indoor tents. If you are seeing a layer of spores on the bottom of the tubs, there are tons in the air, too - they are getting blown around by your intake air and out through whatever holes or gaps the displaced air gets out through, not only falling straight down.

Oyster spores seem harmless until they're not. If you breathe enough of them, one day you may start having flu-like symptoms that don't go away until you stop growing them, and that can come back basically instantly after subsequent exposure.

Or Google about extrinsic allergic alveolitis, or read RogerRabbit's own accounts of it here:

If you're growing oysters, it's in your (and your housemates' if any) best interest to exhaust the air from the grow space to outdoors. Wearing a respirator when harvesting is not a bad idea either.

All good.  Got you.  Spores is one of the reasons I’m not heavy on oysters.  I do own a filtered vent/ exhaust thingy from when I grew open tent .    i didn’t notice a big enough spore load so i didn’t use with this type of grow yet.  If i did more oyster more often i would possibly toss it on.

Years ago i was growing chestnuts in open tent, i became allergic, so i do try to be a little careful and aware of air quality.

Unfortunately my LM has an infection. Looks like trich but I def could be wrong. Would you guys still eat it?

Reishi (not sure what species) fully colonized but still closed up. What are next steps for this guy?

I usually avoid eating infected bags, though that looks like it’s not near the infected area.

Humid Monotub with automation in tent or sometimes in open air, depends on environment needed.  It’s a sensitive setup, but reliable when dialed in.  It’s fun to work with since I can get up close and study how small tweaks and air exchange parameters change with each new species.

I think it's fine to eat those lm.

For the reishi, I find it easiest to do nothing and let them fruit in the bag

Yes indeed. My favorite is when they're mottled like quail eggs

They like cooler temps but are ok up to about 78f, they like high humidity when pinning. A 3 week incubation before cutting an opening is ideal ime. They respond really well to a drop in temps to initiate pins but it's not necessary
