Getting into an accident would be a different story, obv someone would be looking into the info then. But I think there's privacy between the insurance companies and police, and they're not gonna subpoena insurance companies for every traffic stop they make. Try calling your provider, say you're Officer so-and-so and want to verify a policy. See what they say

Worst case scenario is a $250 ticket I only had to pay once. vs 15 years of monthly payments.

When an officer last asked for insurance I said idk, my parents pay for it. Maybe they are, lol. Cuz no warning or citation. I think it's a more common practice than thought. I get the impression the officers don't even insure their personal vehicles with how lax they are about it.

yes police can tell if your insured. the insurance companies provide the state with policy numbers and shit.

to say maybe they dont check is like ignoring an upcoming drug test and hoping it will magically work out.
