40g fresh made me briefly see my first 3D cve's and then I could barely move, basking in euphoria and love for everything. Mind you, I was on ssri's, tolerance and cognitive decline. I don't think I have the balls to try that dose now off meds, without tolerance and in a much better shape cognitively, but if I had to choose, subtrops has the best odds of having a great experience. I've confirmed for myself that ochras in very high doses are likely to be a strap on your seatbelt and prepare to lose your mind, kind of experience, not pleasant but I guess any mushroom trip ends up a net positive somehow.

40g fresh is a ton..... When I get mine I'm gonna start with 1g dry and see what happens..  I survived 1g TTBVI   High dose ochra's are no joke....anything over 2.5g of those is going to be INTENSE!  They all do seem to end well though....sometimes just to have survived the harrowing, rough part of the trip is an honest to goodness relief.  Whew!  Glad that's over with .

Getting ready to tuck my trays in for while I'll be away on vacation.  Going to get some pictures up tonight and get some last minute input.  Hoping to come back to some pins.........

I may not have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, but I have taken 20 grams of fresh subtropicalis

Final pics before vacation.  Looking pretty dry. Minimal condensation.  So misted walls, tried not to get much on the casing.  Also misted top of box and left lids unlatched.  The ones with liners, I put some water down on the outside of the liner and took 1 unlined box and put it in a larger tote with water in bottom of larger tote.  Left lid unlatched on shoebox and larger tote.

No pins yet, but maybe knotting up a bit...not really sure seeing a whole lot of progress but no obvious contamination and most trays are chewing into the casing.  Hoping to have pins when I get back....if not I've got 10 jars and more agar plates in the pipeline.

Damn nice looking grows, folks.  Here we have some wild Xico genetics.  Cased first week of December, first mature fruits early June.

i‘d sprinkle a good amount of coarse verm on it (after hydrating it to fc or slightly above)
leave the lid on (unlatched)
then go on vacation and probably come back to pins

While waiting on my semp jars for spawning, I’m planning the use of a small jar of 3 month old quinoa myciliated grain for a trip. The plan:

1. Stick 2g of grain in the dehydrator on 160 for 3 hours to kill bacteria.
2. Bring a cup and a half of water to a boil and then add a tablespoon of lemon juice and 1.5g of the dehydrated grain.
3. Strain into a cup, add a little honey to taste, and then bottoms up.

This plan is largely based on reading tea techs and on Rev’s body of research. Am I missing anything? Should I sub the lemon juice for true citric acid?

Nice job elpico! And Lew those are looking nice!

I think this really speaks to how variable these wild species can be, as well as what good isolation work can accomplish. I'm excited to work more on xico, tres solles, vc and coyopolan genetics here.

Pins came in after a month or so, then sat for a few months without doing much of anything.  I guess this one earns the "slow lineage" designation?

@wavyedge - I've barely scratched the surface on a couple of wild prints, and I've had some beautiful phenotypes.  The diversity is amazing to observe.  Looks like you've got a killer lineup there.

He was saying  that the top layer didn't even get fully colonized before pins. Which is on point for these cultures, but mine are usually almost finished with the top layer when knotting, then I'll wait a couple more days and see how the pin set looks before I give a little bit of a late casing .

Haven't really measured ratio in a while but only real difference I've noticed  is time it takes till pins. Maybe number of flushes too...

:whathesaid:

This exactly.  If I had known this was the "case" I guess I would have done the casing. LOL

*Update* still looking good so far. Well for one them.

1:1.5 ratio. ( I don't know why but anytime I did more than that they failed on me)

Somebody told me they only need a minimal amount of substrate so I went with as a little as I could get away and got better results for sure.

I must have something hiding in my culture that just could not be seen by the naked eye....anways

1/2pt spawn/cv/jiffy mix(50/50 mix)

S2B-  6/10/25.  First pins 06/23/25.

And here we are today 06/28/25

Well one of them. Unfortunately since these things grow so slowly I spoke too soon and I knew it.:facepalm3:

Got a tiny little bit of green peeking through on one tray. So I was right about something hiding in there. You could tell this specific tray has much less coverage and healthy of a pen set. So I'm hoping the other is still on track for success!

I'm going to let it ride and see how long it takes the green monster to take over. Very frustrating. I lost my job yesterday as well. Well some people will call it laid off. I call it getting thrown away like trash.
:shake:

I really need a win!!
