I just put two nats/ochra shoeboxes to bulk a few days ago.  I report back when they fruit to see which one’s I have.  I can say that the plates and jars were aggressive and not very rhizo more thick toma

Not much rhizo here either.





Some on the glass of this LI jar.  Hoping this is stones starting. I'll let it chill for a month or more and see what it does.

I've just used a spore syringe of Nats on a couple of plates - well, what I believe to Nats. The supplier called them P. Natalensis anyway.

I'll be sure to upload photos during the growing process

Is it assumed all trusted vendor nats are ochras? I have 3 shoeboxes a week and a half in right now so I'd like to know if I should change anything. This is also the furthest I've ever gone on a grow so I have no idea if I'm doing anything wrong
This is the first shoebox w 3 qts spawn in a 4:1 w casing

I would assume everything labeled natelensis is ochra, unless the vendor specifies.

Not ochra, real nats, or something similar.

I have a side pin pushing up this morning. I'm not going to post a picture it just looks like a cube pin.

Hopefully as it grows up it shows some morphological differences.

I'm planning to print everything I can from this tote.  If y'all have marketplace access I'm going to trade this first run for stamps, so I'm stocked up on those for a spring panaeolus giveaway.

Anyway, I'll post again once fruits are more mature.  Maybe tomorrow or the next day. And then again when I start printing caps (hopefully!!)

I moved the jars that I'm letting colonize to make stones into some ambient light a few days ago, they had been in my closet.

They don't seem like they are heavy in beta carbolinoids like the mexi/tamp stones.  But I still decided to use the UV light to get some contrast.

Edit:  and you know I'm still suspicious if the ones in my tents are cubes. When I got these from my friend he gave me another species that was mislabeled and turned out to be a cube. And before I found that out I had inoculated a jar with it at the same time I inoculated this one.

I may have tossed the wrong all in one jar.  :lol:

I will get it scoped before any prints go out so we don't have more mix ups.

There's other indications too.  I'm pretty sure it's a wild ochra print that was misidentified as a cube.  I know how it could have gotten mislabeled during my work flow.

I believe this might be the natalensis tray.  It appears to be making sclerotia and taking a long time to fruit.  Which are good indicators.




Which got marked ingeli.  I think I tossed that ingeli tray.  But the one I posted up thread with the grass, I spawned that the same day as this tray.

And... The wild cube/ochra from south africa, was labeled pan cyan accidentally by the collector when the guy I got it from received it.

This culture has some crazy karma lol

But, wild ochra is pretty cool lol  My source still believes it's a nat.  So we are going to scope it but I'm pretty sure it's not.

Yeah, and lack of veil doesn't mean it is natalensis.  Ochra sometimes don't make them, especially indoors.

I rewatched the myc check video last night, because I've been kind of suspicious of this tray and how easy it has been and how much it has looked like cubes.

Anyway, I'm going to put together a collage of creative common photos and information I've gathered in the last 24 hours as I've poured over this trying to figure it out.

Morphologically, I don't think that they actually look that similar. And they aren't that closely related to either species.

For anyone with a microscope, you can easily verify if you have the real ones or not.  They have one, two, three, and four spored basidia. Which makes the range of spore sizes quite variable.  And that can get quite a lot larger than ochra spores do to the single spored basidia.

I will detail the macroscopic features as soon as I get them put together.
