I usually scoop off all the floaters, which are mostly the sunflower seeds, and just make it's own qt usually.  Or if there's not many in a particular batch, just mix em back in.

What's the best grain source for bulk you guys have found online? I like WBS but annoying getting all the sunflower seeds out. 80 lbs for $38.. does it get better?

Moving away from feed corn personally. I'm liking the smaller grains again for a2g.

If it doesn't have to be online, I go to tractor supply for oats.
$18ish for 50#

Bacterial.  I like to run a lot of jars and small tubs.  I don’t get all emotional when cutting my losses.

I just decant them off with the rinse water. Even easier. After 3 rinses theyre all gone. Got to stir between washes to mix them up and get them to float. Out of 3 qt wbs only about 1/4 qt worth of sunflower seeds and other floaters come off.

Its my only PE jar right now and I've got the space, so meh. But thanks for the diagnosis. I was just surprised it actually took off after another shake and was wondering if that was an indication of something is all. Appreciate ya!

I couldn't find a suitable grinder either, so just went full ghetto. Go grab a vitamin pill bottle, place a heavier coin in it, tighten the cap all the way and shake it for about 20 seconds. Turn upside down, let it settle for a bit and here you go, a cap full of powdered shrooms without dust going left and right (hopefully).

Although it seems to me that some of that fine dust sticks to the side of the plastic container from the inside. In case that is a problem, one could get a glass bottle like what we all use for agar mixing, it appears to have a thick wall that could withstand a coin going nuts in there.

i've always used a bullet blender with the smallest cup attachment and it works well for me. bonus if some powder gets stuck to the blades/sides u can make a microdose smoothie right after

I had a number of successful grows, mostly in bags from liquid cultures I grew, but found I just didn't need big yields and I somehow stumbled on a tek here that suggested some grain (I think it was rye grass seed???) that tended to retain quite a bit of water so was ideal for fruiting off of from the jars.

I must have grown at least 20 jars that way very easily and successfully without any tubs or complex setups. Just inoculated the jars/grain with LC, waited a few weeks. then I guess I cased it and then put the jar inside a clean myco bag for humidity... bottom watered and honestly, they fruited great. 15-20 good sized fruits from 2-3 flushes and very little mess and hassle. That's the method I want to replicate.

Are you thinking of Violet's tek?

Well I'll be. That shit will work? Im gonna run an experiment just to see I suppose.

One thing I can tell you is that it took me quite a bit of experimenting to find the right strain and isolates that really thrived in that growing methodology. It may or may not work for you depending on a lot of factors. I think it's likely you'll get at least some fruits even from a random multi spore type grow, but I did a number of clones to get to the point where they fruited at a max level.

I went back through some of my posts 7 years ago and found a thread where I did an entire write up on it and at that time it seems like was casing with vermiculite, at least in some of the jars. I used a fairly unique technique to quickly clone the best isolates. Violet gave me a lot of super important advice, at the time. Here's the thread of the entire process and the yields as well.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23916317/fpart/1/vc/1

There are lots of pictures of the stages of the grow.

It’s just tea. You can’t keep a glass of tea in the cupboard. It will get moldy and gross.

If you were to freeze the bottles, they could last a lot longer.
