I just started using hello bird wild bird seed. I got mine 40lbs for $11 on sale. It's mostly Milo with little sunflower seeds, but it has these little gray stone like particles in it. If you find and try it, do not rinse it in your household sink! Because of that I'll probably stop using it and go back to Pennington. You can always drill holes in the bottom of a bucket big enough for the select grain to fall through but too small for the sunflower seeds to get through and sift Pennington pretty quickly.

Look into local feed mills if you have any, you can sometimes get 50-100lb bags of stuff like rye and millet for $20-30.

I can’t help you if it has to be online. I used to source small amounts of grain from Amazon, but it’s not cheap. Find a local animal feed store. Shipping is a killer on bulk grains because of the weight. I’m paying $17 for 50 lbs of wheat. They have millet if you like small grain size for a buck or two more. Price and availability vary greatly with location, so you’ll have to do some legwork.

You definitely have to let the dust settle with anything, that's the key. But if you want a quick and dirty fix for what you have currently (while you wait for your new one to arrive) - wet a linen towel (tea towel) or a few paper towels, wring out most of the water, then wrap it around the lid of your blender. It will catch most of the dust that gets airborne.

I figured this out after grinding up a couple of gallons of homegrown, dried cayenne peppers...

Hello guys!
I am new here, and this is my first try.
So I have the inject and forget bag, it all looks good, but I noticed some blueish color on the bottom of the cake, and some around the cake.
Could it be just bruise? I have to tell you I touched and moved and everything, checking every day, etc. I know I should not, but I am too excited :laugh:
I opened it, and smells like a forest with full of mushrooms.
So I attach some photos.
What do you guys think? Is it mold?

Hi guys,

First post and I have a confession to make: I have cheated and taken the "rich mans" way to cultivation.
I have ordered a spore syringe from an online vendor and inoculated 5ml directly into  a bag of 1kg of sterilized grains. The bag has an injection port and a filter patch.

Below are some pics of the growth after one month.
Are there any signs of contamination? Sorry, it's hard to get a clear picture because of the plastic bag.

This coffee grinder is the cats ass. Seals tight...matter of fact, the dust comes from pulling the lid off bc it pulls a bit of a vacuum. I wear a half face bc I cant stand the smell, but it grinds like a champ and doesnt make a mess. 10/10 would recommend.

The smell alone...I've got a coffee grinder with a good seal. So good that I actually have to remove the top slowly bc it will kind of pull a vacuum. I also wear a half face bc I hate everything about the smell/taste.


Breathing mushroom spores is harmful. It’s not just about the nausea. It’s literally a health detriment.

And only $45 the magic bullet seems like a great solution. I have tried multiple grinders now and I’m still getting the same problems. I feel like the quality has just gone down sharply

inoculated 11/16, gave it a shake at maybe 10% on 11/24 and the myc had kinda recovered but didnt spread. Figured it was toast but gave it a shake on 12/6 just for shits and giggles and now we're here. It is what it is, but was just wondering if there was a known reason for such behavior.

I think its boneyard info. I remember back in the day we were told they had no value and only caused problems. I think they're big, ugly and not skimming them off would make rinsing more difficult for me, so fuck it - I give them to the birds.
