Universal income wouldn't be necessary if the profit was actually trickling down properly to middle class n lower.

We'd all have a lot more money to play with if there was just an income cap. UHC CEO making 10 million is not justifiable in any way whatsoever. President of the USA makes 4% of UHC CEO's salary.

Capitalists like to pretend that everything would just stop if there wasn't an unlimited financial incentive looming for entrepreneurs and ceo's to work toward. Total BS. I'd happily do a CEO job for 1% of his annual income. And I'd be much more likely to start a business of my own or further education if I wasn't living paycheck to paycheck.

Universal income would be a terrifying feeling, total dependence on Gov. I already have enough anxiety about whether SSI will be there for me. I can earn my own, I just want a fair share.

Maybe, but you couldn't do the job well.  If you could, you'd expect more than that.  The reality is that UBI will become necessary either way because unemployment will exceed 75% pretty soon.

And if you're living on SSI, you certainly aren't CEO material.  You don't even qualify for SSI is you have assets exceeding $2,000

Oh, I thought that acronym was for social security income. I see it's something else. I wouldn't make a good ceo but I'm sure they can find someone qualified and willing. If a corporation becomes too big and complicated for 1 person to manage, just break it up. They could have a hundred $100k ceo's instead and support 100x more families. One person hoarding $10 million is absolutely disgusting.

The problem is that the CEO, by law, has a duty to act in the best interests of the shareholders. So, let's say a CEO accepts a salary of $100k where the previous CEO got 1.1 million a year...Where do you think that $1 million in savings will go...to the employees?  Lol...no....it will go to the shareholders.  In fact, in many cases, it would be illegal for it NOT to go to the shareholders.

Yep, the position doesn't really add value directly, it just shifts it to the greediest, least deserving.

The position definitely adds value.  It's absurd to claim otherwise.  Whether it adds value sufficient to justify the compensation is a whole other question which must be answered on an individual basis and then only after gathering a lot more data.

Adds value to what? According to the manifesto, life expectancy ranks #49 while healthcare spending ranks #1 in USA. So the value isnt' going to the patients, or the employees.

I'm not calling for ubi, per se. I am just saying there are different ways of thinking.

If we would like for the dollar, Amero, Doge, etc, to be covered by anything tangible, there are nationalized, financial and natural resources.

Think of how oppositewise and flippant it would be, if they paid you taxes. Just saying.

I don't see how that note is in any way relevant to this discussion.  What makes you think a CEO's job is to add value to customers or employees?  The purpose of a corporation is to make money for the owners.  The job of the CEO is to make money for the owners.  A CEO who fails to do that will lose his or her job.  A CEO who does that well will be paid a lot of money.

It's relevant to my original point that it's a lot of money cycling in the wrong hands, that could be a lot more effectively cycled in the broader economy. Profit has no business in healthcare in my opinion. Nickle and dime the semiconductor industry or something, but people's health should come before dividends.

And universal government funded healthcare would make that a reality...to some extent.  At least it would remove the insurance companies' cut of the profit.  Doctors,  hospitals, researchers, etc. would still make money.

I agree, I'd prefer that before UBI

One doesn't replace the other, though.  UBI is inevitable.  With or without healthcare.

What do you mean when you said unemployment will be 75% soon? That sounds like an extreme prediciton.

It's inevitable.  Jobs will be replaced by automation. There's no way around that.

I suppose. The automation tipping point would change everything, but UBI doesn't seem likely in that scenario. More likely they just starve off the people they don't need and it becomes a totally different looking civilization of wealthy freeloaders and their robots. Currency wouldn't make sense at that point. I guess it would be corporate family empires trading raw materials to each other. I can't imagine.

Having your assets hidden in the Cayman islands and the Swiss alps to avoid income taxes shouldn’t be legal. They don’t pay their taxes. You guys are a joke if you honestly want to defend that billionaires are following the rules.

Those are tax forms. So obviously they don’t know how to file their taxes if they didn’t pay any.

As I mentioned before. Sweden, one of the most successful European countries. Taxes their billionaires 55%. We tax them less than one %; If at all.

That's not how societies work. The wealthy only stay wealthy when society is stable.  Large starving masses of people have historically been miffed (oddly enough) so much about starving that they burn the society down.  We do pretty well by keeping the masses docile with cheap entertainment, but when people are starving and/or homeless, that's a surefire way to revolution.

Not to mention state tax. Almost all the corporations are incorporated in Delaware, which doesn't charge state tax. Now that like 95% of business is held by umbrella companies, you rarely see state tax charged for anything when shopping online. It's a contributing reason Amazon was able to undercut prices and afford to eat shipping costs, when they're evading millions in taxes.
