Using an oil burner to heat water instead of LPG. Old oil can be found for free near me for the right price which is good cause although we produce a lot in Australian LPG is not cheap.

Shiitake bag is progressing nicely. I did a break and shake on it last weekend, should I do it again or just let it ride?

Do folks often break up sawdust bags? I've never done that.

Shiitake takes 2-3 months to be ready to fruit anyway. Let it ride.

Btw, is that filter exposed to the actual plenum of air inside? My paranoid self would worry that the "roll" on the top is preventing gas exchange through the filter.

Not worth it to break and shake sawdust bags imo. They never settle together quite right and doesn't save much time.

Nice oil burner cj

Wild. That wedge you sent me covered the 60mm plate with wispy mycelium in a couple days, while everything else was just fuzzing over (or doing nothing).

In GG&MM, Stamets claims Morchella mycelium loses its ability to produce those stones after a small number of plate expansions. I wonder how true that is. I'll be making a bunch of cryovial backups, just in case.

They look more like pearls than my last grow.

  Interesting...
this is the "landscape" morel so me thinks it might be a bit easier (hopefully) .

The above plate was started with a stone from a hot pour plate that had two different recipes.

They certainly are fast.

I too put some of them in eppendorf tubes.

Won’t spam you with pioppinos after this as I think I’ve got them down (:

Lot of side pins this round though

Did spraying after the first flush help on the other bags too?

Yep! That bottom pic is second flush after a spray, give them a few days after first flush before lightly spraying though 👍 I never drenched them but after second flush I’m going to try giving them a dunk and see what happens, probably trich out most likely.

Not loving how these Pink Oyster turned out. Do they look normal?

What don't you like about them? If you want bigger mushrooms or clusters, less surface area to fruit from (smaller / fewer slits) would probably help.

They don't look bad to me but I've only fruited them once, on unsupplemented HWFP (Lipa tek) blocks.

Edit: pic tax

Okay well maybe they weren't as bad as I thought (although yours look better ). I had six 1.5" holes. Do you think that is too large?

FINALLY hit my yield target, on a bucket tek bag of all things.

27.5oz from 7lb bag.

Idk if it’s coincidence,  but I let this bag sit and consolidate for a while instead of fruiting asap like I have been before.
