You have plate pics? And, can you walk us through your technique? We can help you trace the contamination vectors

Toss it or look into bacterial spawning options. For me, I’ve found that spawning bacterial grain is a waste of time. Time spent in learning and making clean spawn is way more productive. The HHG link in my sig will show you the way. Good luck!

Here are JF plates I have. These all came from original plate that I just threw into that grain jar. I’d had some issues with those jars which were premade, by a vendor I will not mention. So I am trying to clean up my JF but not sure if I know how tell mold from mycelium. I did these with my FH so maybe I need a better hepa filter as well.





My photography sucks too. Could be the iPad.

I would take some transfers off that and see if it becomes more uniform. Maybe 11 o'clock and 7.

I would say not mold. Take some transfers from fast growing edges to thin the genetics a bit.

Anyone grown KSSS before? My jars getting to spawn to bulk stage. I know these things tend to grow squat, should I case it or just launch like any normal cube?

The purpose of gypsum in a casing layer is to get more loose and also works as a slow buffer for the Ph, maintaining it for subsequent flushes.

I have a bunch going on pf cakes right now. I have two quarts of grain colonizing right now though. I intend on doing 1:4 coir ratio with a 1/2" coir psuedo casing. If you go with it, or without it i'd be interested in seeing your results.

They are very stout and dense though.

How important is the pasteurization process for jiffy mix casing layer tek? I read somewhere that contamination of casing layer is rare. the only reason I'm asking is that I'm not sure if I can constantly keep the temp high enough for 1 hr. What I did was cook it until 160F then took it out of the stove and wrapped it in towel so it keeps warm for longer. Is this okay?
