Question: I'm using this coir for growing cubes: https://bionovanutrients.com/nl/Bionova-Cocobrick-6x-10L/2014Z. Now I noticed they mention that it's buffered with calcium and magnesium. Does this have any impact? I only did one grow until now, and everything seemed fine to me, but I don't know what would have happened if had used another brand.

I imagine it will be fine

Cronicr mentioned that their favorite brand of coir to use for mushcult was the mycoco coco coir expanded bags, and those advertise themselves to be buffered as well. So seems to not be an issue

I got a peek at my cakes in my water tub through a non fogged up part and don't know if what I'm seeing is mycelium regeneration like it should be doing or if the fuzzy growth is bad and it needs FAE Stat or something. It's been 48hrs + but if it's healthy myc regen I want to keep it humid in there another day or 2 to get the casing colonized.


What say you guys?



I'll note I had one grower tell me it was probably fine and it probably is just looking for more insight into what I'm looking at.

Question about a jar. This was inoculated with agar, fully colonized 5 days after shake. But got these clear gel looking areas forming on it. I'm assuming this is bacterial? I went ahead and went to shoeboxes. I'm wondering if this is indeed bacterial or just metabolites?

Anyone ever use fresh orange juice in place of lemon juice for OJ tek?  Also, would the lemon β€œjuice” in the bottle be an okay substitute.

Looking to give lemon tek a go for the first time today and I’m fresh outta fresh lemons.

They look like they've got plenty to shake, break apart and distribute - then the mycelium will recover and keep spreading. At this stage in the jars, I'm usually checking in every 4-6 days, usually shaking them, until they are at complete coverage at 4-6 days after a good shake.

Lemon Tek is largely unsubstantiated, I guess is the word. There’s not much to suggest it does anything. I used to only lemon tek my mushroom trips and I’ll say it definitely wasn’t worth having to shoot lemon juice πŸ˜‚

How about grapefruit? 
  It's delicious and an excellent chaser whether it's tea or eating them for me.  I've never noticed potency differences between plain water and lemon/oj/grapefruit concoctions.

What type of study could independently verify if lemon tek really worked or not? How would we set up such trials to figure it out? What metrics would we use? We'd need at least 500 participants.

A. How quick was the onset? Record the moment you start feeling anything, and the moment you plateau.

B. How long does it take to reach the plateau versus the control, non lemon tek group?

C. How long does your trip last overall, compared to the control?

D. Rate the Intensity of your Trip on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being almost nothing and 10 being the greatest trip you've ever had

Not that anyone asked, but reporting back after taking .35 g microdose (not lemon tek- just ate them). So this past week I’ve been taking microdoses every other day and gradually increasing from like .2 g up and haven’t felt much (which is the goal here, but still haven’t felt much going up to .8 g). The jar I’m pulling from is fruit that I dehydrated last week from a lagging pf cake.

Well, this morning I decided to try the .35 g from a jar of my first to fruit pf cakes that I dehydrated several weeks ago and air sealed with one of those electric jar sealers, and haven’t touched since. And wow, definitely a difference in potency. I did take these on mostly an empty stomach, but the difference feels night and day. I have taken the shrroms the β€œweak” jar after a light breakfast (like a mini muffin) so I really don’t think that was the reason for the difference, but I guess who knows. So many variables.

Can one pf cake produce weaker potency fruit than another from the same MSS? Guess I could see that happening since two fruits from the same tub could even vary.

Idk if orange juice would work. I'd just eat them if I didn't have pure lemon. You want something with high acidity. Here in my country I use calamansi if I don't have lemons. I think something like lime would work.
Ever since I lemon tekked I never went back to eating them for trips. In my experience, it kicks in very fast, around 15-20 minutes in and I already start feeling the effects. I have great trips with lemon tekking.
People have their own opinions though. Some people would rather eat them, others prefer lemon tek. I'm a lemon tek guy. But if you never tried lemon tekking before I think you should definitely try it. But if you're gonna trip right now and have no lemons I would skip on the orange juice and just eat it.
