When you make an agar transfer, do you flip the cut upside down so the myc is touching the new plate? Does it matter?

Dont matter. If you cut a small enough piece of agar thats virtually impossible to do anyway.

Not really.

If you cut a whole chunk of thick agar and put it myc side up it may take a day or 2 to reach down there but it will grow if all is healthy.

Dont worry about it. Youll see something happen eventually. I cant imagine making a transfer and having no reaction at all.

I just transferred some myc from a 6 month old ps. Azurescens plate ive had sitting around. Grew out perfectly fine.

Alrighty.

I just saw some making progress after less than 24 hrs and some not moving now at about 36 so I was wondering if those were dead but they are less than 6 months old and have been refrigerated in like 5 ziplock bags so I guess I'll just chill a bit more.

Ahh ok idk ive never refridgerated anything. Not sure how things may grow after periods of refridgeration. Im sure youll see growth eventually. Put it away for a week or so and then check it.

If it is old and dry it may take a while longer. I assumed you meant fresh transfers.

i got some genetics from a forum member a while back.  I did a successful transfer while I gathered supplies like my PC and grains.
Now several months later, I'm doing transfers from those first transfers to try and start back up, as I now have all my supplies required to be a real boy.

So I'm 'starting over' and did transfer from those old successful transfers, hoping to get things moving again.

I just did similar it's sluggish for a bit but eventually takes off , when they die they bruise bluish and start to shrivel

For old cultures I like face down with no pours because there's always a bit of water to help hydrate , idk if it makes a diff but it doesn't hurt 😂

I always see like a 2-3 day delay jumping off after cold storage.

I'm about to add a couple drops of sterile water to some germ plates that I didn't realize how dry they were.

Hoping that works.

If not I just poured a bunch more and I'll start over in a couple days.
