Ok here's the real kicker - these issues aren't mundane or ordinary. My current problems are the complex legal issues of being the executor of my parents' estate, and that position has allowed me to see the true colors of some of my relatives. Funny how people act when a few hundred thousand bucks are on the line, even when it's not for any of them. Fucking lecherous bunch of cretins, trying to swoop in and take real estate and jewelry, motorcycles and vintage vehicles that aren't theirs and never will be. I can't wait to pull out my best Scarface and tell them all "say goodnight to the bad guy!!!"

Klarn, I see all the feedback you are getting and it’s really good feedback. While I don’t have any suggestions or answers for you that haven’t already been brought up. Just want to say you ARE doing what you need to do to improve your situation. Talking with us, using mush cult as a healthy distraction tool, looking for a therapist/professional support. The stressors might change, but will always be there in some form. Doing what you are doing and learning what coping skills work for you is the best thing you can do! I hope you find a therapist, or find whatever type of support you are looking for soon. Sounds like you have a lot on your shoulders, and while you might not believe it at the time, every challenge is a learning experience (growth mindset motha fucka!!)

I
I also don’t know the history with catnip. I have enjoyed Ras’s posts and replies so I’m happy you are still here!!!

Beef- did you ever think this thread would turn out even remotely like it has?

I have a confession, I too have another shroomery account! (Unfortunately it was made 19-21 years ago. I would do anything to be able to get back into it).

Also my cat is laying on me. In my house if our cat is on you, whoever doesn’t have a cat has to wait on you till the cat moves as not to disturb her. I have the cat right now and it feels pretty good to have my fiance make my lunch while I scroll shroomery with a fluffy fur ball purring on my lap. I’m usually waiting on my fiance because she works 14 hr shifts.

My condolences.
I'm really not looking forward to this after seeing the fallout over my grandfather's passing. The way it affected some of my family members was revolting.

Nice Scarface quote, it reminds me of when I was a kid and all the losers went looking for my great aunt's money since she saved bills with the letter K on them.  She was superstitious that way with the K being the first letter of our last name.  They tore up walls and everything looking for money, I bet her body wasn't even cold yet before they started in on the house.  Literally defacing the house for a few bucks, but they had no stake in the house, so they didn't care, freakin' dirty Rats scurrying about looking for free cheddar.

My quote of the day... which I use from time to time... "Morons... your bus is leaving".

Oof, I feel your pain on this one.  The same thing happened after my dad passed, and he definitely wasn't wealthy.  The whole family dynamic blew up after my uncle and aunt decided they were going to grab all his tools during the wake.  Hang in there brother!

As someone who works in the industry I can safely say death and grief affects people in unexpected and shocking ways. I've also seen some pretty callous shit. I had one guy who disinterred his parents so he could sell their niche. He even emptied out their urn and tried to sell that. Saw the ad on Facebook marketplace and it was damn gross.

Yeah that's beyond fucked up.  That's almost worse than grave robbery.

Are you a Mortician, most people don't use the word disinterred or niche is why I ask.  You must be, I could never do it, I hate going to funerals, I don't do open caskets, I'm more of a person that wants to remember them a certain way, not lying there with makeup on and all that.

I truly appreciate all of y'all and I love you all a bunches. Everyone's comments are actually helping me right now. It's been a rough week already, thanks everyone.

It's truly foul how people act when someone dies. I watched people on my dad's side of the family basically come to blows after my grandma passed... over a bunch of stuff that goodwill would have probably thrown out. I would have never expected this kind of behavior from moms side, but here we are. One aunt trying to take all the jewelry for her daughter to "figure out what it's worth for you" (take most of it for themselves since I don't have any kids). Sorry y'all, 2 benefactors, and 1 is a moron. And he still can't just stand by and wait for the big ass check he's going to get, he's gotta go around saying I'm ripping him off. He won't say it to me though, he knows I'll whoop his sorry ass. Punk bitch. Good thing I have never cared what any of these people think of me.

@pasty holy shit dude, that is truly disgusting. But it makes me feel a little better about my situation, so thank you.

I'm a Cemetery director and funeral pre planner. I've attended a lot of funerals. Very few open caskets these days.

That's good to hear, I just remember the old days, and viewing the body, I'm like, YEAHHH... NOT for me Bruh... I'll pass.  My brother told me my uncle looked like a doll with all the makeup; I can't do that to myself. I have seen some really traumatic things growing up, and in adulthood pups with parvo and... never mind, I won't go into that one, still blows my mind to this day.  It takes a certain personality for what you do, and I commend you, I used to love horror films, but it's not the same in real life.
