If you just link us the Amazon listings, whichever is cheapest or will arrive to you the soonest (whatever is a priority), we can tell you if it's good.

10g agar to 10g LME to 500ml H2O is standard. Some people use a little less LME, and some use softer (7g) agar for their germination plates

1g of nutritional yeast added to the recipe above really makes a difference. There's often side by side pics in this thread and you just cannot deny the difference the yeast makes.

Thank you, any brands for the ME and NY?

I usually shop on amazon...

This really helps me...

Here’s what I’ve got.

They both look good to me. Not sure if there's a difference between "Dry Malt Extract - Golden Light" or "Light Dry Malt Extract".

If it was me I would personally go for this one, the Light Dry Malt

https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Light-Dried-Malt-Extract/dp/B007XYGBXQ/

The "golden light" bit on your link is just throwing me off a bit but I'm sure it's fine, maybe a slightly different colour..who knows

Thank you very much, I'll grab the one you would choose!

Two more agar questions please:

1. I only have a 500ml bottle so I'll have to do 400ml water so say about 7gms ME and 7gms Agar?
2. You said you really like the NY in the recipe, but is it really necessary and how would I notice the difference?

Then I'll do my order...

agar can definitely affect the growth.  Here are two transfers from right next to each other from the same established strain.  The only difference is that the plate on the right has nutritional yeast.

You decide..

8g of each would be more appropriate to the standard recipe, it works out 2g per 100ml. Though 7 of each would work fine.

Wow, the one on the right looks way better, NY it is!

Thanks again,

I’m about brave enough to add nutritional yeast back into my mix lol. I‘ve been paranoid tweaking it at all will give me more dead agar, but I’m just about over it.

Since I'm using 400ml, I'll do 7gms of ME and 7gms of Agar and 1 gm NY...

Doing 400ml in a 500ml container be super careful.  I would recommend doing 250ml.  When agar boils it will bubble triple in size quickly.

When you do 400ml in the 500ml media bottle what is your personal recipe?

Thanks,

Does this pass the vibe check? That growth at 6-7 on the left looks a little strange to me. Opinions?

Ordered the Organic ME, thanks Gorilla...

Now it's a showdown for NY:

The "nutritional/ingredients" facts looks a little different between them...

Must depend on the TEK used.  I used bod's microwave tek and it foamed up aggressively when it started to boil.

Oh you gotta watch that microwaved agar. Once it starts it goes quick. That last minute you have to not take your eyes off.

@Gorilla, I'll probably go with that one...
